Well boys and girls ... my wife is progressing in a positive manner. She is starting to look like a Holstein cow what with all of the huge hematomas that are showing up all over her body, especially on her right hip that is extreamely sore too. This is so, because they are giving her blood thinner IVs to bust up the blood clots. She is also getting "Bloody Mary" ( blood transfusions) daily to replace lost blood. She is eating a bite or two more but still not feeling hungry enough to eat more. She walked 12 steps yesterday :weee and she said that she became exhausted. I too am tataly exhausted from lack of sleep , :( like no more than 2- 2 1/2 hours per day. :th More later ... :hu

@bobm , :hugs to both of you, those blood thinners really do a number on you. I was on the shot in the belly for a year and my poor old belly looked like it had been used as a punching bag.
Good for your wife, 12 steps, that's a really good start, maybe 15 next time. It's hard for people to understand how hard this is to do when you are so weak and you can't catch your breath. When I had trouble eating I found I could eat a bit of watermelon and cantaloupe which really surprised me. It's a slow road back but with support and understanding it will make it much easier for your wife. One has to be in her shoes to really know exactly what she is going through. Give her an extra hug from me and tell her to stay positive, it worked for me. Hey, don't forget to take care of yourself tho, get some rest and eat some proper meals, we don't want you sick too.

My wife has now taken 20 steps with a walker assistance three times yesterday. So the Doctors will decide today if she can come home. A discharge person came to her room and one of the lists that she provided was a full page , single space, double column listing service providers for In Home Assistance, Retirement homes , Transportation Service, Adult Day Care, Personal Response systems. All of which we can't take advantage of since Kaiser Insurance doesn't cover the costs so we have to pay for it out of pocket. Our income is over the maximum and we own our own home ( with a mortgage) so we don't qualify for any of them, however we can pay for them out of pocket with a personal loan to rival the National Debt or sell our home. If our income would be less than the maximum and rent a home, we would have ALL of the services for NO COST and paid for by our tax dollars. :idunno

Apparently your wife is not of Medicare age yet. You are facing the same thing millions of people face: stuck in the middle with no one looking out for your interests.
Isn't Kaiser one of those insurance companies you have to argue your case with, to get them to cover your claims?
You don't need all those services; probably just a nurse to come daily for a while. Decide what you need and then fight for it.

You do need to take care of yourself to do a good job of caring for your wife. So much easier to say than to do, however. At least for me, we are both retired. I couldn't imagine caring for Spouse and working outside the home.

You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers, bobm, as does your wife.

So glad to hear she is improving albeit slowly. A whole lot of patience is needed in these circumstances. Patience is not one of my strong points. I trust you have your portion of patience as well as some of what I should have been blessed with.
