We had overwintered kale overtheweekend and can expect more overtheweeks.

An even dozen 2024 kale plants stayed thru the Winter. They weren't hugging like @Branching Out 's carrots but scattered everywhere from the front yard to the back fence. Working around them for preparing for the 2025 season wasn't much of a problem.

I moved 3 of the 4 in the hoop house out into the yard while rebuilding the path walls. Those will get a break but hardly look like they need a recovery except by comparison to the ones that didn't undergo a move.

Mustard greens and Asian greens seedlings in the hoop house beds will need a little time to recover from transplanting.

i have two pint jars of garlic pickle from 2013 (sure doesn't seem like it was that long ago when i made it), it's wonderful stuff but a little goes a long ways and i just kinda forgot about it for years.

now i'm going to use it when i'm planting this coming season. it will go in the trenches for the peppers and onions - just a little as some extra fertilizer and trace nutrients. it will keep most things away i'm sure as the main ingredient is garlic... vampires need not apply...

Rhubarb, as in Strawberry Rhubarb pie!

It's a little early and the stems were small and short. But, there were plenty of them and the plant yielding enough for 2 pies hardly looks like anything is missing.

Usually, chives for scrambled eggs are our earliest crop but I moved the chives last year to make room for the above-ground compost bin with all that 2024 grass sod. The chives are just little clumps right now.

Planted the potatoes, today :).

if they were recently frosted it is not a good time to take rhubarb. the oxalates in the leaves will move down into the stem and it may take a bit for that to reverse.
