I have not planted any yet but thought I would give it a try even though it is late in the season. I will look to see if there are any that produce early maybe if they need a shorter time to produce I can still get some melons. My chickens go crazy over the rinds.

I read somewhere that sunflowers will attract aphids and to plant in with your corn and other spot in the garden. Right now I only have them in the corn. Any reason other than height you couldn't have little patches of sunflowers throughout the garden?

Well here goes how dumb I was. I thought the sprout came out the middle.. I noticed how tall they were gettting but never looked down below the head to see the stalk that had formed under it with lots of little sprouts. I will take a picture later when I go work in the garden. i am so excited...

But there isn't a stalk it just looks like a small head in the middle of the plant. Like a small cabbage.

I have never grown them before and the plants have been in the ground since March. They look more like heads of cabbage than Brussel Sprouts. Right now they are 14 to 16 inches tall.
