I have a couple spare bins in the shed and thought I would give this method a try. I think it maybe the same method that Kellygirrl mentioned.

Great job you are doing. Your hard work shows. Can't wait to see pictures in the spring and summer.
We will have been in our house 2 years in June. This will be the first year with a proper garden.
What did you buy!! 300.00 is a lot of seeds.
I got the envelope back from WInterSown and there was a nice sellection of flower and vegetable seeds. But it was heavy on the flower seeds so I am not sure if I will send off again.
I was in the feed store yesterday and they had just gotten in...
I bought the book "Guide to North Carolina Vegetable Gardening" which had good reviews on Amazon. I always get confused when to plant fall and spring veggie and end up with nothing. So I am hoping this book will make me a MASTER Vegetable gardener. No I just hope it helps me keep from feeding a...
Do you have to donate seeds? I am just getting started so I don't have any seeds to exchange. Hopefully if I have a good harvest I can dry some to give away next year.
How did your artichokes turn out? Mine came up fast and then stayed the same size the rest of the year.
My unusual veggie would be fava beans. I also did not have very good luck with those. I planted them too late. I will try again in the spring.
Thank you all.
So here is what I am thinking. Beans and peas I will buy local seeds. Tomatoes and peppers I will set out plants from the hardware store. Speciality veggies I will buy from a catalogs or on-line store. I need to go ahead and place an orde3r soon because I need to buy snow peas...
I am trying to decide if I want to buy through a catalog and pay more or buy seeds locally from a hardware/feed store? The ones I can buy from the hardware/seed store in bulk cost about 1/4 of the price of seeds in the little packages.
I use tobacco juice. Break about a 1/2 inch off a cigarette. I am not a smoker so I have to bum one. Wet the tobacco and put on the spot and cover with a bandage.
I am actually going to have a real garden next year. We moved from town in June of of 2006 and with the move I did not have time to put in a garden. Last year I tried raised beds ut there was not enough sun. So I am going to take the top soil out of the raised beds along with the compost and...
I planted seeds I bought at a fruit stand and was told they were yellow eyed peas. I thought they would be like blackeyed peas which don't need staking. Well all of the sudden they started shooting out climbers like pole beans. I don't have a way to stake them in the raised bed so they are kind...
I have thined them but they might not be getting enough light. This was kind of a trial garden next year I am moving it out to the pasture where it will get lots of light.
I planted Fava beans. No idea why just seemed like a good idea. I found some dried one in a grocery store in NYC in July. Now I hope to find some good fava bean recipes.
I planted mustard, turnips, beets and collards about three weeks ago. Leaves develop but then the stems get real long and thin and they fall over. What am I doing wrong?
For some reason I was thinking a read somewhere that when you open canned veggies or sauces that you have to simmer for 15 minutes for it to be safe to eat. Is this true of something I just dreamed up?
I had a hard time getting the pressure canner to regulate to 3 to 4 jiggles a minute. Is...
