i put in a few hours of digging to get more of the strawberry patch weeded and turned under. maybe i can get it done in one more shift, but not sure - the part i haven't done yet is perhaps only 1/4 of the garden but there is a lot of oxalis in there and i'm trying to remove as much of it as i...
welcome to TEG from mid-Michigan. :) there are plenty of bean growers here.
in reading about Ehlers Danlos i would guess that growing roses is a real hazard, how do you manage that?
i'd forgotten the other day when it was warm to get outside and bring in the hoses. today it was colder and windy but at least it wasn't raining and i had a few minutes. the long hose that goes out to the back gardens has a crack in it so that will not go into storage for the winter but...
i actually had a real cake donut yesterday and it was still crispy and delicious. :) i told Mom as she was going to the store that i only wanted one donut and she said it was the last one they had. i'm impressed by how well our local grocery store bakery does with their donuts, while i don't...
we have one of the clematis which is blooming again. today was warm enough it would have been nice to get out and do something, but it was also gusting winds and threatenng rains several times and so i didn't get much done.
yay! i hope you get a bit more soon to get some grass growing. :)
i just checked the temperature in here, the heat hasn't come on all day and it's 74F.
it was so warm out today we walked around and looked at the gardens and sat outside and talked for a while and i only had the t-shirt on and no coat or sweater or overshirt. the sun wasn't out too much at the beginning but came out a bit later and so i could catch a few rays as we talked.
fried green tomatoes. we did them in butter without breading them, but a lot of people bread them. i haven't done that in years. we have a lot of red tomatoes that need eating up and about a half dozen green ones that will probably turn before we get to them. we may give away some of these...
too easy! beans, whatever kinds will grow in your area that you like to eat fresh or dry (or both).
a longer first question to a new gardener is "What do you like to eat?" and the followup is "Can you find varieties which will grow in your area?" the kinds that need minimal care, don't need...
