Very nice. The 3 bin system makes the most sense. I just don’t have the space 😩

You’re right about the laundry. Our shoes were disgusting. His pants and shirt too. Now we all have muck boots!! Yeah, all I’ve ever heard about composting is no meat, no dairy, but everything else. We certainly have a lot this year. I can’t wait to use it in the veggie garden in springtime! 😃

    Best Composting Tips

O We’ve always had compost going, but as our garden is growing we needed more! And having 6 people in our house, we’re certainly creating enough usable scraps. I had a lot of help from my step-son who was the only one of the kids into this. We collected free wooden pallets from a store...

Any Organic Veggie Gardeners out there?

I agree with you on avoiding poison treatment on foods I eat. I actually haven’t used any pesticides in the last 5 years. Little kids running around barefoot makes you paranoid. We compost heavily, and this years compost should be enough for out entire garden. I don’t so much have issue with...

Any Organic Veggie Gardeners out there?

I bought them at Home Depot, they’re the organic open pollinated variety as that’s what I tend to grow exclusively in my garden. Unfortunately I have them all planted as starts for the years. But honestly they may have been $2.75 for around 30 seeds. I’m sure you can find them around. What part...

Any Organic Veggie Gardeners out there?

I’d love a cherry tree! I’m not sure there are any in this area, aside from the ornamental variety, because as you say they must survive winters. I think apples are the PA standard. We do have plentiful amounts of wild raspberry and wine berry buses all around which we forage in the summer from...

Any Organic Veggie Gardeners out there?

Hello all, Getting my seeds ready for starting in a couple of weeks. I was curious to see what everyone else is planting, mainly organic seeds. I’m looking to expand our garden more this year away from the basics for our “homestead”. Jalapeños, tomatoes (many varieties and sizes), herbs, squash...

    Hello from South Eastern Pennsylvania!

I did try and grow some beets, carrots, kale, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and lettuce... however most of it had been eaten by a vole who is wintering in the lovely, warm hoophouse. I swear I’ve never seen as many animals in my yard until I started planting vegetables!!!! 😾

    Hello from South Eastern Pennsylvania!

So happy to meet you! I lived on fabric row for 5 years, and it was amazing!!! but not as easy when you have kids. Yes, little kitties do love to dig. I used to have acat that dug and went to the bathroom in my plants, so hopefully you’ll avoid that! How does the fan “harden up” the starts...

Planting fruit trees and Shrubs in Pennsylvania

I’m checking to see if any PA residents here have had success with planting and eventually picking fruits. I’m located just outside of Philadelphia. I would ideally like an apple tree, peach tree, blueberry bush, and raspberry bush. I wanted to know what species are giving you the most...

    Hello from South Eastern Pennsylvania!

Hello and thank you! So far: Tomatoes, various sizes, a few hot pepper varieties, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, eggplant. Will also be direct sowing some sweet corn, carrots, herbs, spring onions, leeks, and hopefully strawberries. I usually start my seeds indoors around February and plant...

    Hello from South Eastern Pennsylvania!

Just checking if there are any other nearby residents planting seeds to start this winter. I was curious when you start the seeds indoors and when are you transplanting outdoors? Thanks!😸
