I've been wanting a tractor for a while now. But, we just can't afford one that is big enough, to do everything we want to do.
Someone told us not to buy a tractor with a mowing deck, because we could use theirs. That didn't pan out because he just wasn't ever available when we needed it.
So...
Thanks for that link, Steve. I was just clicking on some of the weed names, listed alphabetically, and was finding names for weeds I have had over the years, and never knew what they were called.
I was looking for a weed I found on our property and found this link.
http://www.floridalawncare.org/101.html
Yes, it says Florida. However the weed descriptions say they are found from Florida to Texas.
Thanks, @Beekissed. We have everything, except the FN. We have only one laundry detergent bottle a on just went out in the trash today. :barnie however, we have 2 gallon (I think) jugs that our kitty litter comes in. We can store the detergent in those & pour it into the one detergent bottle...
I started by wrapping the yarn around my four fingers about 20 times, pulled that off, folded it in half & started winding, moving each wrap 1 strand width (without being too persnickity). Every 10-15 wraps I shifted around the ball 1/2 to 1" eyeballing it to keep the ball balanced. Occasionally...

They didn't even flinch when you
did the deed!
Somehow I think
now that they are older,
they would look at you
like you were a crazy
woman!!!
Man! You really laid it out like it IS, @bobm!
Yes, when you figure the ACTUAL cost of producing food on a small scale, it costs more than you would pay in the grocery store.
But, as you mentioned, part of the equation is the quality, of the end product & knowing your food was raised humanely...
I did a load of wash a while ago & took a photo of my 4 wool, felted dryer balls.
They do a great job fluffing our clothes & helping them dry faster. Each skein of 100% wool yarn cost about $6/ skein. I was curious about the cost to buy the sheep balls . So, I looked online & found them...
 :yuckyuck  Carol, you are so funny! :gig I can sure identify with the stinky hand sanitizer issue! UGH!
I make my own & keep it in my purse, in a 4oz plastic bottle. I use the same recipe for hand sanitizer & spray on Deodorant:
Organic Deodorant & Hand Sanitizer
1 cup Witch...
I might have DH buy a bar of FN & cook up a small batch of that detergent outside, on the BBQ grill, so we can try it. I know there are recipes out there. But, could I get yours Beekissed?
I have a question for you @Beekissed: years ago, DH tried using FN, to spot treat clothes. He thought it did a great job & we had been told it was safe. He always did the wash (in the laundry room, with the door closed), because we had used scented laundry products before I learned about MCS...
Over the years, I have gone to making my own personal care products, due to all the toxic chemicals in most products. Some of the worst chemicals include parabens, sodium laurel sulfate & Triclosan (antibacterial). I use coconut oil a lot, for its antimicrobial & healing qualities, as well as...
 :gig  You crack me up, Baymule!
@Carol Dee, I made my own "Felted Wool Dryer Balls". I bought 4 skeins of 100% wool yarn & wrapped each one into a ball. First, they went into the wash, with a load of clothes. Then into the dryer with each subsequent load of wash. Now I have 4...
WooHoo! Congrats, Baymule! It looks great! Yes, that bacon does look meaty - just like ours. And oh so tasty. :drool
We ran out of Wright's Liquid Smoke. I don't remember where we got it, but can't find it around here. All the other smoke products have other additives.
I have ordered...
I don't actually boil the bacon. I put a small amount of water in the pan, cover & simmer over the lowest flame, which essentially steams the bacon. Once all the water has cooked off, I fry the bacon, which does leave rendered fat in the pan.
This morning I made a 1 pound package of organic...
Thanks Carol. I love those dishes! We have had them for About 12 years. I'm pretty sure we got them at Wal-Mart.
I never saw that on ATK. We have been doing it for years. It cooks the bacon through & once it's cooked through, its easier to regulate the crispness without burning it.
I do the...
