We are eating sweet peppers, every day until they run out. We love them.
P.S. The thin poly netting kept the deer away from the pepper plants, not so much as a single leaf was touched. :)
I selected the largest corms and planted them individually thinking that they were individual plants and I would not get involved is dividing a mass of plants apart. Now, it appears that a corm can form multiple plants. I am thinking that the corms fuse themselves together naturally as part of...
Mary,
Here is where I purchased the seed the description includes the size of the plants. I am container growing so it will be more compact. The seeds germinated in only two or three days.

I also grow a few varieties of large leaf basil, my favorite is Plenty. We also grow lemon and purple basil along with dwarf oregano. All are being grown indoors hydroponically so we can have fresh herbs all year. My wife dehydrates basil and also freezes it into cubes for use in cooking.
I thought I would give this a try although we have never prepared any Greek dishes.
"Cute little compact plants are only 6-10” tall and are great for growing in containers. It has a spicy, slightly anise flavor and is a must for Greek cooking.

When we first tried these my wife said that there was no juice and they were going to be dry. That is not the case, as they like a watermelon in that when you eat them the flesh is full of juice. Definitely, a do again variety. Very few seeds though.
Someone gave me seeds for Hungarian Kapia peppers, about six seeds so I do not have many plants. The greenhouse plants are ripe and these peppers are beauties. The seeds will be saved and next year I plan on planting a lot more of this variety.
"The Red Kapia is a small, tapered pepper with a...
I bought it last year and used it as the mamma for my seed project. It had a few flowers when I bought it but this time it has gone berzerk. If I decide to sell the seedlings at some point this is the photo I will use.
A final progress report on growing Phalaenopsis from seed:
The protocorms are definitely forming into seedlings, so it looks like I am going to have plants, but at this point, I have no idea of how long it will take. I have deflasked and grown orchids so I am confident that I will get plants...
Here is the cross I just made and hope it takes, Mutt and Jeff. The small plant is from Trader Joe's and the large plant from Aldi. More flowers will be pollinated as they open to better my chances of a new hybrid. :fl
Even Miss Ava is into growing basil for the kitchen because she loves to cook. She has been naming her plants since she was tiny so, Penelope went home with her but Penny and Bob are still here in my care until they get a little bigger. I guess I'm sort of a day care for plants. :)
Steve,
Thank God we don't have earwigs indoors! Also, with hydroponics there is no dirt!!
Here is another plant for the indoor war on bugs:
Dianthus – It seems that insects abhor the spicy clove scent of cottage pinks as much as we love it.
A big plus is that in a few weeks it will covered...
