I have carrots left in the garden from last season too. It is the cold that gives sweetness to the carrots I find. Maybe thats why carrots grown in warmer states with no cold don't taste as sweet.... :hu .

Roots are definitely a great sign that the tree is still going strong. If it were me I would plant it in pot now with soil, it should produce bigger roots in there. Let us know how the trees are doing! :)

It was around 18 degrees this morning, I sure hope winter will come to an end soon. I'm noticing the daylight getting noticeably longer which feels good :celebrate . Soon in a few weeks the clocks will need to change an hour forward.
