Now you all have got me wanting to try some again. I tried a few years ago, but the plants remained scrawny and kind of disappeared. Or maybe weed-whacked. Once I decided to sprout the seeds indoors, but then I forgot about them and the sprouted seeds dried up.
My mother used to...
I think it would be a problem. Whether you get a lot of rain, or just a little, that water trough is probably not going to be right.
One thing you could do is fill it about 1/3 with filler of some kind, like rocks or Styrofoam or aluminum cans, then set big pots (with holes in the bottom) onto...
Hi, and Welcome from SE Missouri. Did you grow vegetables or flowers (or both) in last year's garden? Can you be more specific in your location? You can put it under your avatar, like zone 5b or whatever. There are several people here that live in the NW. Digit'S, Thistlebloom and Collector, to...

There's an old recipe for a cold remedy that is just chopped onions that has sat in honey for a day or two. A spoonful of that mixture will really help a sore throat, cough, etc.
@seedcorn, I bet some of those fermented jalapenos mixed with honey and onions/garlic would really be a good cold...
Maybe you could fill in the gap on the canning while she is at work. Heh, who am I kidding?
I don't have time or industry to can and I am fully retired.
It started out about 55 today, but when the sun came out, the west wind whipped up and the temps dropped. It was sunny but with brutal cold wind. Blew the chickens away. :p
@seedcorn, if you are looking for a low carb alternative for potatoes, I sometimes use cooked and riced or mashed cauliflower. It works well as pasta or rice, too. Yummy as pasta for spaghetti sauce.
And you have probably tried spaghetti squash. I need to grow some this year.
Oh, and I have...
