O.M.Gee....what a shock. I have recently learned my Dad is basically a "city boy"! And here all these years I have known him, over 50+ years, he claimed to be a "country boy". Hmmm.....what an odd realization. I tried to talk to him about chickens....that's when he tells me he knows...
I will look into that concept when spring has sprung. About all I can do now is look over the garden in short spurt here and there. Taking mental notes so to speak. Maybe I can take a few pics on the few warmer days that show up. Now, theoretically, I could have done that today, but Dad...
Nope. No basement. Slab construction. I will just need to camouflage it to look "not" like a compost pile. I see people bagging their raked up leaves here too. ugh. Leave belong in the compost.
It's gonna be a challenge for sure.
So, this new year finds me in a whole different setting. Instead of 1 acre in the boonies, I am now in a suburban city environment with an HOA. I will still compost, but now see I need to come up with some sort of smaller hidden bin. A large planter perhaps? I have been looking online...
Every time I log into this forum, it reminds me of NyBoy. He was quite a a special character, and a person couldn't help but get attached. He brought his own kind of flavor to many a mundane topic. Like CL for instance.
We miss you NyBoy! :rainbowflower :rainbowflower :(...
I ended up with a Samsung10 phone, which has an app that reminds me to walk. Counts my daily steps, nags me if I am not walking.
I also have to manage my blood glucose, due to Diabetes 2, and have so far lost 68 lbs.
Oh no, it is ALL flowers. Her house was built right next to the main drainage ditch for the subdivision, so she adopted it as her own planting garden. Bringing in dirt, and apparently planted over 10K in flowers. I know some of it will need to be thinned out, but I won't know what till they...
I don't know yet. I just moved to this property, hardiness zone 6a. It is full on winter right now. I know late step mom planted herself a massive garden, but I will have to wait till Spring, to see what comes up. See what needs pulled. Stuff.
I know she planted many plants that I love...
Oh yes, the food!! I was introduced to Filipino food as a young Navy wife back in the 80's. I love as much of it as I can get hold of. I even taught myself how to make lumpia and fried rice. YUMMMM..............
I have been dealing with it for over a year now...thanks to peri-menopause. Not fun..especially when it pops up while driving.
I will need to look into the Epley maneuver. Never heard of it.
I didn't get to know him as well, as I took a few years off of visiting Easy Garden and the other 2. But I still miss the man. He made an impression on so many people. And it was a good one.

I let my hens raise all of the chicks. It was interesting to see which breeds ate what, and what the mama hens taught the babies to eat. I had game hens, RIR hens, PR hens, and some were half EE/game. I would guess they learn by example and their taste.
Also, I had read somewhere that birds...
The will do that sometimes. Just up and die. My pride and joy EE roo just died one day. Even while I was in town, I kept having this feeling that he would die. Arrived home.....dead rooster.
None of the others ever died though. And I have had several in the 9 years I raised chickens.
:th:th:th
Oh, did I mention I have NO bed to sleep on? Dad was able to carve me a tiny space open in her sewing room. It had been piled high to the ceiling with sewing projects & supplies. She did many many crafts and had one of those huge expensive embroidery machines. It took my...
Exhaustion mainly. Tied up all loose ends in SC, in 2 months time. Packed tight a 10x16 PODS shipping container. Drove back to KCMO, the 1,000 miles one way this time....WITH 4 cats in the little Nissan Altima!
Hit the ground running. Moved in with Dad. Unloaded the shipping container into...
