These bushes are super hardy, and rarely need any special treatment. I would guess you have a bigger problem- as others have mentioned. I have planted lilacs in terrible soil, done nothing and enjoyed blooms a few years later. Do you have a cooperative extension near you, that you could ask...
So glad you found a moment to check in...you really made an impact on me, with your all your knowledge- and your wonderful humor! Such a difficult time for you. My thoughts will be with you both.
Gardening season has officially begun for me...potatoes and onions in the ground! Always happy when that happens! Both planting areas plowed (gotta love that tractor)... Need to kick the chickens out of the main garden, so I can get planting in there. Yay, Spring!
You should have good luck with them... I transplanted mine from one property to another- no problem. Mine are in a shady, woodland garden. Not at all bog like. I remember seeing them on hikes as a kid- fun to have them in the yard.
What fun! There is a greenhouse near me that advertises every year, right about now...I always try to imagine ways I might be able to fit another job into my schedule! Enjoy!
I love the idea of climbing hydrangea. I had one at my first house, it grew fast, was pretty and did well in the shade. Using containers is a great idea. You can change them up, if you get tired of them. Good luck!
