Hard to believe summer is over...still have carrots and beets in the ground. Swiss chard growing and Brussels Sprouts out there. Maybe this weekend it will be a little warmer and I can do the final harvest. Had a tremendous year with apples and plums. All in all, fairly happy with the...
They look right at home! Good luck with the new group! I bought older hens this time and one of them surprised with an egg the first morning! The sex links definitely lay early. Enjoyed the instant gratification of these vs the day olds I was used to. Agree with Thistle- the eggs went from...
Cat, what a wonderful story! My daughter used pineapples in her wedding decorations and planted them in Florida. The hope is they will be ready for the 1 year anniversary. In Florida it is very easy to grow them. Just pop the top in the dirt and forget about it. Enjoy yours!
I love coffee! Sometimes I look forward to going to bed, so I can get up in the morning and have coffee! I only drink organic fair trade. If I don't have soymilk (which is what I use for cream) it is a national emergency around here...I joke and say "it takes a lot of coffee and vodka, to do...
I have been very successful keeping my onions for the entire winter, and well into summer- just in the crisper drawers of my fridge. I lay them in, with layers of paper towels- to keep the moisture absorbed. Very pleased with this method. Way better than the basement. My onions varied from...
I have 4 of those wheels...another million and I could have a very cool fence! I passed a place up in the Adirondacks whose fence was made of bicycles (all painted fun colors). It was a bike shop, so it worked.
I have included one grape leaf in each jar of pickles. Keeps them crisp. Seemed to work. I have a friend who takes mine, to make Greek grape leaves. Someone just stopped by and asked if he could harvest the wild grapes on my fence. He claims a bowl fill made him a delicious batch of grape...
I have always had issue with the colored bells. I only grow Marconi's now. They are easy and tasty- but not colorful, if that is what your customer wants. Good luck!
I see those "fancy" houses with no door on the master bath. If I bought one of those houses, the first thing I would do is build a wall and put up a door! Somethings really are better with a little bit of privacy! I love living with no neighbors.
"Never find another one like it." Unless you paint one yourself, and leave it out in the weather for a couple years! I would price that at 45.00 in my shop- and be happy if somebody paid it!
