One Sunny Acre garden journal 2015

My veggie garden paths were pure weeds after all our rain. Dh took the weedeater out there and cut the paths right down to the dirt. Looks perfect now. No way we could have pulled all those weeds by hand. Love the bluebirds!

    Dumb Question

I don't use a hoe...however, I do have a tip for you. The part about bending over, that usually hurts your back- is the constant bending and straightening. I just stay bent over for as long as I can and then straighten up. This is how the Native Americans planted, etc. (or so Google tells...

    Green Taters

I would peel them and see how deep the green goes. You really shouldn't eat the green part...but, it might just be on the surface. That is a shame!

THE JAPANESE HAVE INVADED THE US!!!!

We have used the shopvac idea. It works, if you can reach the area, where you need it. I prefer to "collect" chicken food!

THE JAPANESE HAVE INVADED THE US!!!!

As So lucky mentioned, knocking them into a container with water works perfectly. They swim around, but they can't fly. And watching the chickens "bob for bugs" is just too much fun!

    Got Lucky Last Night

I have white bleeding hearts...not sure what kind of leaf they have. They spread like crazy. I am about to start pulling some. They took over one of my small garden areas. I get lots of compliments on the white. Fun since it is different!

You should have all come and visited me today... No sun, high of 64, rain and a freezing cold breeze. Would have been a nice day- if it was November! Send some of that heat my way, please!

    Trailing Flower For Window Box

Nice job! I love window boxes...makes such a cheerful statement. Another fun vine is, Trailing Nasturtium. They have edible flowers and trail right down to the ground, by the end of summer.

Anyone Know What This Is ?

I see those on my wild grapes all the time. No idea what they are- but they don't seem to hurt anything. Not all the leaves are affected. Good luck!

    Recycled Tomato Plants

Agree with Ducks...if you have the room enjoy the surprise. If you don't yank them up. If your season is long enough they will certainly grow fruit.

    Popping in from Southwest Florida

Welcome! I always say, I wouldn't plant a garden without a fence! I let my chickens in, after harvest- and lock them out again in the spring. Make sure whatever fencing you use, doesn't have a top rail. They will jump right up and roost on the rail and then jump into the garden...

    Newbie from North Central Texas

Welcome! Welcome! Now you have given me visions of planting popsicle sticks and harvesting posicles! House plants can be downright fussy...How about trying an easy spider plant to start with. Pretty sure you can't kill them, even if you try!

    Bumblebee sting!

When I get stung, I take a benedryl right away. Keeps the reaction to a minimum. Hopefully, you won't need this advice! Glad it is getting better!
