Most of my tomato plants are dead now, late blight swept through after I rescued so many. One can not battle mother nature in the rain. She wins this round!
I need to do chicken broth as well.
I saw all our chicken bones and parts in gallon bags in the freezer. Then when I get a WHOLE BUNCH I put them in the pressure canner and use it as a pressure cooker. Then I keep in the fridge a day so I can clean the canner, skim the fat and can it all. GREAT...
We've been putting up beans for a couple of weeks now. I finally took 2 gallon bags of them up to the farm stand to sell. We've eaten green beans every night for 2 weeks. Don't get me wrong, they're dang good beans!!!
These dragon tongue beans are REALLY productive, so happy we got them. :D
Yep... totally hot here today too. I went out and hosed down their run and got it nice and muddy. Chickens release excess heat through their wattles, combs and feet since they don't sweat. So keep their feet cool and they'll be fine. Even though its really messy!
ooooh... I do it similarly!
I cut into home fries or little medalions put in a big boil. Toss with olive oil, garlic, salt and finally chopped rosemary. Toss everything together. Preheat oven for 425 degrees. Put a cast iron skillet on the stove over medium high heat. Poor the potatoes into the...
You know what, I was wearing a brown tee shirt that day. Someone told me they may have mistaken me for a bear and went on the attack on purpose. Usually I wear white or light colors this time of year due to the heat. Its probably been 20 years since the last time I was stung. Thank goodness I'm...
I like the white wonder tomatoes, very mild. Though I love ALL tomatoes I've tried so far. The strongest and the mildest.... I enjoy them all! :P
Yours sure are pretty, Canesisters!
OK, easy peasy...
Peel and quarter peaches, place on the stove over medium-low heat. Add 1 split and scraped vanilla bean. Warm through until the mush when pushed with a spoon. Usually about an hour and a 1/2. Remove from heat, add to food processor and process until smooth. Return to heat and...
That's awesome!
How old is the youngest tree you have? I have 3 peach trees. 1 is 5 and 2 are 4, I have a handful of peaches last year, not very big. This year only the oldest one had a few and the squirrels got them before they were ready.
Thanks guys, I just iced it down.
Here may be a good spot to write. I have a bee question now... as now I'm concerned.
The bees have been acting very oddly. No bee sting stops me from going out in the garden and doing my chores while I have sun. What I've been noticing is lots of off balance...
I haven't been stung in a LONG time. MAN, this is painful!!!!
What can I put on it?
And before you ask.... it just like dive bombed my arm while I was standing out in the yard, which is weird for a bee. I had to pull the stinger as it left it behind, but I tried to 'rub' it out as not to...
