They're great Monty! Are they the brandywine types you are growing? The leaves are huge themselves.
I have picked quite a few tomatoes already, but this rain has plagued us with blight, luckily I have a second planting of tomatoes and if I loose the first I am going to do a 3rd planting in a...
I'll give the first recipe I used in the ice cream maker as well... it was EXCELLENT!
Vanilla Bean Ice Cream:
Heat the following just to a bubble-
2 Cups Heavy Cream
2 Cups Whole Milk
1/3 cup sugar
1 Sliced vanilla bean, and scrape in some of the seed
In a separate bowl combine 3 Duck Egg...
Oh baymule... we are birds of a feather. I sure do end up with a pantry full of fruit liquors every year! :) I haven't done blueberry, but I bet that doing a blueberry lemonchello would go very nicely this year. :)
So sorry Monty, its been really bad storms. Our corn had a similar issue. A few laid over on one end of the row, I just kind of lifted them and leaned them on the others the fell over so they were a little off the ground. Now its been a few weeks and the corn is ready on them. So listen to...

Sorry, this is my HAPPY DAY. It feels like anything that can go right has, and I'm so very excited. I've had nothing but great news today.
I am going to buy a lotto ticket!
Did anyone sign up for the Takepart Preserving Contest Food Inc was running back in May? I signed up and I remember sharing the link. It was for a Canning/Preserving prize with all kinds of canning items, a food mill, those awesome Weck Jars, a digital kitchen scale and it was being promoted by...
We enjoy the cardinals, orioles and eastern blue birds. We watch them watching us most the day. I love watching them bouncing around on the tops of my sunflowers. Makes me smile and laugh, and I could just watch from the kitchen table for hours.
:)
I have tiny tan spots the size of pencil eraser ends on mine, I'm sure downy mildew is starting. I get it when it rains a lot on my first planting.
My little eaten spots I have on them, my sunflowers, my melons, my beans.... all leaf hoppers. They suck terribly this time of year. I...
No, the stems are round.
I'm wondering if its from the tansy family. :/ Just does look like the common ones I've seen. I've had a few friends helping me look into it as well. I've been thumbing through my "Herb and Spice Companion Guide", that book is WONDERFUL but I haven't come across it in...
I'm using Duck Egg Yolks (not even the whole egg) talk about RICH! I'm going to die fat and happy with this thing.
Thank you Monty for the recipes. I'll have to cut them back a bit, this only does 1.5 quarts at a time. But they look fabulous and I hope cutting them in half doesn't affect the...
So I have a friend who is growing a huge garden of herbs passed down from her mother who has long passed. One of the herbs in the garden has us confused and we just can't figure out what it is.
What I can tell you, if at first everyone thought it was a type of tansy. Its not. This plant grows...
