Last year I received several Mongeta del Ganxet ecotypes from Catalonia. The seeds of some of them were more curved, others less. The one shown by @heirloomgal is Mongeta del Ganxet d'en Serafi, the most similar to cashews. I grew the bush version, more like a kidney bean, and the pods were...
@Bluejay77, beans grow in 3-4 liter pots. Poles are usually hazel sticks, nothing special. Generally, I don't plant pole beans in pots, but when a plant starts to climb, it's a pity to throw it away :)
Meanwhile on the windowsill...
The oldest Lillooet pods are filling up nicely with seeds.
Peau de Vache Normande - it was supposed to be a bush bean but it started climbing. I think I planted a crossed seed, although I got information that this bean may not be completely stable.
Quaker...
I will be growing Buddha's Bellybutton this year. In February I put the seed in the pot to finally determine the type of growth. The bean grows as a true bush, there are already small pods.
@heirloomgal
These are bush and semi-runner beans that I only have 10 seeds or less. Growing in pots serves to multiply the seeds before I sow them outside.
I managed to revive a Morro seed. This was the fourth, the first three turned out to be permanently dead. This time I treated the edges of the seed strongly with a nail file, and then soaked in a small amount of water with the addition of hydrogen peroxide. When the bean swelled, I wrapped it in...
Hi Saritabee :frow
You won't find my description of growing Frost because I didn't post it :) At first everything was fine, but later due to the heat a lot of flowers and small pods fell. The later pods did not have enough time to ripen for harvest. I have a lot of seeds from them, but they are...
Thank you Jack. So I'm waiting for PM. I will gladly send you the seeds of my tomatoes for exchange. Recently, I sent the seeds of tomatoes and cucumbers to Connecticut and they arrived without problems.
@heirloomgal , @Eleanor , @Jack Holloway
Thank you very much for your help. Yes, that's the tomato. According to the description, it comes from Poland.
With @heirloomgal permission, I'd like to post a private ad :)
I'm looking for Debbie tomato seeds. I mean the tomato that Carolyn Male described in the book "100 Heirloom Tomatoes for the American Garden". Can anyone help me?
Today I started the intro to the real season. Beans whose seeds I will multiply in pots are: Quaker Bush, Moro, Peau de Vache Normande and Lillooet. There is also Buddha's Bellybutton. In this case, it is about checking the type of growth.
@Branching Out
Good luck!
I start on Sunday. It will be good to see the bean leaves again after a long 4 months :)
I put sprouted seeds straight into the final pots.
@Bluejay77
Sorry, I am unable to make an identification. If the genetics professor didn't give any name to this bean, then it probably doesn't have a name.
I have many local cultivars that don't have any official name. When someone is interested, I send them under the name of the place where...
I was and am a fan of the Forgotten Realms series. Even one bean outcross I tentatively named Drizzt :) Seeds are very shiny, black with a white spot at the end. If I have some space left, I'll plant it this year.
