@Bluejay77 - Grow out went mostly well. Comtesse de Chomboro was a failure as nothing germinated for me. :( Otherwise good yields on all of the Robert Lobitz's beans except Amber Queen. I did not have good success with the first batch of Amber Queen outside, only got around 30 seeds total of...
It is snowing this morning in Minnesota! The 2018 vegetable gardening season is officially done for me. All beans have been pulled and drying in the garage. Now cleanup of the flower beds begins. Hope everyone else's first frost holds off for a bit.
First of the dried bush beans are in.
@Bluejay77 Where were the Paula beans from? I definitely got a cross on the plant in the Paula bean row. The plant is 6 inches taller than the other Paula plants, purple veining, and purple pods. At first I thought a purple dove seed might have...

Lady Bug checking in for my first season of planting these wonderful bean varieties. Germinated some black valentine beans last weekend and they are in the ground testing that our Minnesota soil is warm enough and ready to go for the special varieties. Wish me luck!

Hi Everyone! I am new to this site, but Russ has already made me feel at home. I wanted to share a bean that my kids found while helping shell black valentine beans (on the left) and what they call the swirly beans (on the right). Plan on growing them out next year. Curious if anyone has seen a...
