Here are some pictures of my apricot tree blooming. I spent a few days last week pollinating the blooms. I'm hoping for some apricots this year! :fl
Enjoy!
lesa,
That is a great idea! I haven't thought of using plastic water bottles, I have heard of using packing peanuts though.
Thanks for telling us about that idea, I'll keep this in mind in case I'll be using a huge pot anytime.
Thanks Again! :thumbsup
Thanks guys for all the advice! ;)
I checked the apricot blooms this morning, they don't look too bad. Time will tell of course if those buds continue to enlarge into fruits or are damaged and fall off. I notice frost may be found in one area of the garden while another area doesn't frost. I...
:barnie My Apricot tree has been blooming so nice this past week and now temperatures are expected to get to 29 degrees tonight. I'm worried all this cold could put an end to any possible apricots this week. I couldn't just leave the tree without covering some branches with plastic bags. I...
Sounds good wsmoak! ;)
What kind of plum did you plant? I really want to plant some golden yellow plums, their really good and sweet as can be. In Europe they have a lot of those golden plums.

I started pollinating the tree today, theirs many more flower buds that haven't bloomed yet. Hopefully I'll get a few apricots that form.
Hi,
My Apricot Tree has just started blooming on this very first day of Spring :ya . I'll post pictures when the tree is in full bloom. Just wanted to know if anyone has hand pollinated any of your fruit trees. Since my apricot has bloomed so early I want to ensure I get some apricots in case...
momofdrew,
I always use peat moss when I plant Blueberry Bushes, the peat makes the soil acidic which is what blueberries need.
I find peat moss much safer than adding Aluminum sulfate, which you have to measure correctly or it can kill them. With peat moss you can add as much as you like the...
I've been wondering about this too, if the hummingbirds will start appearing earlier this year. I really want to set up a few feeders for them on my property in NC. Their are even perennials that flower and attract the hummingbirds, its kind of neat.
Your not alone Detlor Polutry, I spent this week laying down mulch and turning the soil over to satisfy my spring fever.
How can that be weird? I think its the most natural fun things to do. Just have to enjoy being outdoors when you can ;) .
Detlor Poultry,
Is that a birch tree I see in that picture with the flowers? Looks beautiful I'm getting a few weeping birch trees for my property in NC. Can't wait to see them planted! :)
Birch trees sure are eye catching trees.
Great research Steve!
I always use my windowsill to keep my seedlings on there for light. I don't use supplemental lighting and they do fine. Plus it saves money from having to use lights. I do build a greenhouse and still use the sun as the natural light source. Maybe theirs something about...
Here are some other crocus that bloomed in my yard. I even noticed bees out this week which is early for them to wake up from hibernation. This must be a good thing, I'm hoping these bees being out so early will come to pollinate my apricot tree when it blooms in a few weeks. I hope to get my...
