    Eating Well on a Budget

I think I am going to die. I so love food and I have none of this near me. :hit

    A Seed Saver's Garden

I am out of my garden for the year except for some fading flowers and periodic composting I am trying to collect the dying heads to harvest the seeds for next year. I do plan to buy some borage seeds as they are supposed to be really helpful for a garden. I would like to try a "messy" garden...

Protecting Your Garden Against The Winter Frost

Thank you for the links. I have been looking for some good websites for comparison. I have been using: https://www.groworganic.com/

    Wintering My Garden

Before I left, there were a couple of cases of kids falling on needles on the playground. I don't know what came of those incidents as they were buried.

    Joy in the Little Things

My fridge garlic has sprouted. Looks like I will be trying to plant some extra fall garlic. If it goes with a bunch of straw on top of it than good! If it doesn't than well, oh well I tried.

    Wintering My Garden

Very true. I live I in a town of people from elsewhere. I did before and in both cases, I like the transplants better than the locals. Both groups act differently, but they still felt entitled to dictate how others live their lives. I just shake my head and try something new to see how it will...

    Wintering My Garden

My husband and I are working on getting the water rights for our properties right now. We have plans for them and water rights are part of it. I keep expecting a fight because I am not a local and the ranchers control everything. We are already fighting the power company because someone bought...

    One Person, Garden Compost

I came home late last night and could see someone burning something and was instantly concerned. It has snowed, so everything is wet, but I came down the same hill last year and it was literally all on fire. You don't forget that.

    Wintering My Garden

Everyone wants to get away from the junk and regulations. I get why they are there, but at the same time, it is very restrictive. I know my husband and I couldn't do half of what we do if we were elsewhere. It is also getting away from junk. In my old area, some of my friends with homes have...

    Wintering My Garden

It is, but as a lot of the locals tell everyone else. Sorry, Montana is full. :plbb

    Coffee

Coffee in the cup. Waiting for the sun to come up and from there... I may try failing an exam early or trying to figure out a "group project" for an online class. It's so much fun getting a new degree! They have reduced quality down to a middle school level and left us with the requirement of...

    One Person, Garden Compost

I've tried adding ash to my garden before. Usually wood as from our BBQ or some burned cardboard. At this point, I have no idea if it has added anything significant. I have considered setting a bed on fire towards mid-July when it would be the driest, but that would make me extremely nervous. :ep

    Coffee

I think it is best to leave people alone to do as I will. It doesn't matter who you are, as long as you treat each other respectfully and like people with their own motivation and goals. I moved to the middle of nowhere to escape the rules and restrictions that prevented me from working on my...

    Coffee

I don't need any more sadness. My husband and I are far enough away from them and are working on building our dreams, with each day being a new challenge. We will get there, and this will not stop us. I just need to focus on the now and plan for the future. Like where should I purchase seeds...

    If I had a Greenhouse......

Would an asteroid have the right soil minerals, though? I have a few ideas I might try when we start planning our greenhouse. First, we must finish our pole barn/garage. In the meantime, I will finish cleaning up the garden I currently have and save the remaining seeds.

    A Seed Saver's Garden

I finally finished shelling my broccoli seeds. The plants bolted when it went from spring to summer too quickly, and I got multiple buckets of them. I shelled them on our porch. I now have broccoli growing through the cracks in the boards. 😐 I guess some of the seeds escaped. 😱

Who is buying seeds early...like me!

I have not, but I would like to. I went looking for potato seeds last year and only found seed potatoes. I am trying to grow onions from seed, so why not potatoes? Yes, it takes longer, but maybe I can use the fall and the early part of the winter to establish them. Maybe next fall. I found a...

    If I had a Greenhouse......

I kind of wonder if I could create a controlled enough environment by digging one into the ground. The ground is a consistent temperature, but with a bit of work, I wonder if I could create a warmer controlled environment. It would remove the variation in temperature and bug destruction. It is...
