I would agree that they are better in the winter. Many brassicas like collards and brussels sprouts are better tasting after they have been subject to a non killing frost or two. Also, if they sit too long as a transplant, they tend to not do well in the garden after being transplanted.

Exactly! I do love the pole beans as you get more for the space.
I loved visiting Vancouver a couple of years ago. It is so beautiful there. Missed visiting the gardens there though, just not enough time. Will have to go again.
I have my onions seeds started, but my brassica's will have to wait a while. Starting plants inside is better than just looking out the window and yearning...

I am in zone 5a and we just had another 3 inches over night. It has been a wetter than normal winter here with good snow cover, but not as bad as some areas of the country.
