Some of my new daylilies for you to see

I bought a Lion King daylily at work the other day because it was still blooming! Brought it home, and last night, it rebloomed during the night! I just found out that several varieties of daylilies are nocturnal. I never knew anything about daylilies until a couple of months ago, and now I'm...

Some of my new daylilies for you to see

I took some pictures yesterday the few daylilies we still have in bloom in the fields at work. Let me see if I can get them to upload here. There are more pics, but I didn't want to overload the system. :)

No, because there is a zinfandel vineyard and a syrah vineyard near the garden, and a couple of chickens could cause significant crop loss for the winery. Believe me, I have thought about it because I'd really like to take a few of my hens over there and let them have a field day with pulling...

Some of my new daylilies for you to see

These are a couple of pictures from where I work. Not many of the daylilies are in bloom right now. There are something like 12 acres there. There are more great pictures here. http://www.amadorflowerfarm.com/

I will get a discount after I'm there 60 days. Right now, though, they're on sale for cheaper than I could get them for with an employee discount! Potted daylilies are normally $9/pot (sometimes with up to 4 fans in them!), on sale right now for $4/pot. Field lilies are $3/fan. I think the...

Some of my new daylilies for you to see

I knew absolutely nothing about daylilies until about a month ago. I got a job working as a nursery attendant at a local flower farm that specializes in daylilies! I am SO hooked now. We carry something like 900 varieties of daylilies.

Oh yeah... I'm already in trouble. I've always grown veggies but not many flowers. The nursery I work for specializes in daylilies, and I am getting sucked in by all the purdy flowers .... *sigh*.... And the daylilies are only the beginning of my new obsession. I'm learning a lot about...

Update on the Winery Garden... we have an infestation of black aphids in the pumpkin patch. I have to pull them all out and have the plants burned so the aphids don't spread to the vineyards. That being said, it's time to pull it out anyway. We got about 40 eggplants this year from 5 plants &...

We live about 150 miles from where the quake was & we didn't feel it. Happy news, too. I got a job working as a plant nursery attendant. Life is so great.

The pumpkins are not very large. They are sugar pie baby pumpkins. They are really tasty. The Jarrahdale pumpkins that are yet to come are doing really beautifully, as well.

Last Thursday's Harvest (a week ago yesterday). Notice I laid 2 of the Armenian cucumbers on top to form a heart. :)

As of right now, we have easily harvested 100 lbs of Armenian cukes & I am pulling them out tomorrow. Chef says we have more than enough. LOL.

Have you ever planted a "chaos" garden?

I got this idea from reading one of the many gardening blogs that I read on a regular basis. A lady took all her left over seeds, mixed them up in a jar, and had her kids sprinkle them in a prepared bed. I thought this would be a fun thing to try, so I did. I am just now starting to get...

    Massive Garden Project, Need Advice

Hi, everybody! I wanted to post an update. The garden project got off to a difficult start. I had budget issues and ended up providing 100% of the seeds from my own stash. With the exception of a few seedlings the company purchased, everything else came from my own seeds. Now, since I have...
