Somewhat, but with malt so it has a very distinctive taste. There were a number of hot cereals I used to make for our breakfasts long ago. Ones I can remember were Maltex, Ralston (back when it was Ralston Purina Company and they also manufactured large animal feeds), Cream of Wheat, Cream of...
Yesterday I discovered one last tomato in the pocket of my vest. It must have been there, forgotten, for a week after I plucked it from the vine. A final homegrown gift from the garden in my salad, along with garlic pickled green beans from the last farmers market.
Now it will be grocery...
So good to see a post from you, Phaedra. I've missed your photos of delectable goodies, flowers, and critters, but very glad that your cafe is keeping you busy, and not a bit surprised by its success. That strawberry cheesecake looks yummy and beautiful at the same time. You are an artist...
Dented or bulging cans are a sure sign, but this news story centered on cans/jars that appeared normal and tasted nearly normal. It was enough to scare off chicken-hearted me.
On edit, I wonder if following the money trail from that news story would have led to Del Monte et al. It was right...
The batteries (a single re-chargable AA) in my cheapo lights are easy to change, but I do hate having to clean out the spiders that have set up house-keeping in each light when I bring them in for the winter. The batteries are always still going strong at the end of summer, but to avoid...
Um, yes I did!
"Soon I will get inspired to turn the many bags of frozen tomatoes, and leftover ground bison, into a vat of spaghetti sauce. I need the freezer space!"
~and~
"Anyways these frozen tomatoes are already earmarked for spaghetti sauce....."
The unfrozen ones have all been eaten...
I bet I did one better than your Mom, the other day when I kicked a stuck door, hoping to dislodge it. Unfortunately instead of giving way, it held its ground, and I might as well have kicked a block of granite. So now I'm hobbling around with a badly bruised big toe (at least it's not broken)...
Love your blown glass-looking hummingbirds and bugs! Do they light up? I really like these.
Most of my solar lights were just the cheapest white lights available, but I changed their colors to orange and some to green, by filling some with colored beads, and using colored duct tape on others.
Cool that you competed in endurance rides. I suspect your own endurance by far out weighs my own! We used to condition for and ride on competitive trail rides, but those are much tamer.
Your horses must have been really wiped out if you had to call for a rescue trailer! Most of our...
I'm too lazy to make mead, but I buy it!
I've been busy the past two days. First I moved an orange solar light from up the steep hill behind the house to down below in the more civilized picnic area. The path to reach it is getting overgrown with brambles that I don't feel like doing battle...
We're having sunny warm weather with colder nights. Peak foliage season has passed, but I did take a 'before' picture a week ago, as well as an 'after' shot today.
From the dog yard: Edges of sugar maples were just starting to color up and all the tiny red crabapples are on my tree. (This is...
Not sure if this belongs on a weather thread or not, but the foliage this year has been gorgeous. At first it began as sort of drab shades of orange and yellow, but then last week the cool temperatures caused dramatic bright reds to appear, and those dull oranges to transform into vibrant...
