I should look into Inkscape when (if) I ever have time. A lot of designers seem to recommend it for operations beyond the scope of, or in addition to, GIMP.
(Open source is a big draw for autonomy-loving me!)
Interesting that cold tolerance may mean no tolerance for hot, dry conditions. Not a problem for me right now with less sun and a lot of rain, but something to consider if climate change takes another turn.
Even with cages, a number of my plants always seem to escape the confines and flop...
Eating lots and lots from the garden today, my own little garden as well as those belonging to others. My visit to the farmers market yielded organically grown peppers, carrots, red and purple plums, a few ears of corn, potatoes, some jars of home pickled vegetables, as well as grass-fed steaks...
I built web sites back in the late 90s using just basic html (wouldn't know how to do this with today's tools) and I really enjoyed it. I'm still happy doing design work and photo editing, really basic stuff like creating labels for jars of food, bumperstickers for my car, simple animations...
This was how I ended up with an extra Shetland pony that I needed like a hole in my head. Born just down the road from my house and not even halter broke at age 3, I knew that little Ruby's fate would be the slaughter buyers, so I paid $50 for her with the intention of training her to be a good...
Lots of thoughts! LOL I think it's been about 6 years since I bought that planter. Purchasing it from the feed store/garden center, I was warned to drive home with a car window open lest the fumes overtake me! You could almost become inebriated by the whiskey vapors alone. It was one of a...
There are plants out there that hate me! The worst part of allergies for me is that congestion in my sinuses affects my inner ear and correspondingly my sense of balance (which has deteriorated just from age, but this makes it worse).
I strongly suspect you have, but that it's called something different in the UK. A quick search on paint types in your country doesn't mention it, but the description of water-based emulsion paint appears to be the same thing as our USA "latex paint."...
This is a really good point.
Shades-of-Oregon:
Bring the paper samples home look at them under sunlight outside to assure color shade. Inside colors can be effected by inside lighting. Some light give off red, green yellow, blue huges that effects paint colors.
Might be a good idea to examine...
While making up my 2025 garden plans, I've come to the conclusion that the only container gardens I have that bring me joy these days are my raised bed of tomatoes and squash out back of the house, and the collection of flower pots on my front porch, as seen here:
So I'll be retiring all the...
I guess this is sort of weather related. Because of increased solar activity, the northern lights have been visible here the last couple nights. It's probably a familiar sight to Alasgun, but it's somewhat of a novelty here in the lower 48, or at least in the northernmost states.
Marie, do they have hardware stores with a paint department over there? (I don't know what exactly is a decorating shop, is that something like Home Depot or Lowes here across the pond?) In any case there should be a collection of latex interior paints with brochures of paint sample charts...
I had no career plans either, but it was my dream from an early age to have a horse of my own, which came true when hubby and I moved here to Vermont and bought our house. As a kid, living in suburbia, my parents had provided me with riding lessons, so that came in handy later on. Vermont was...
I could, but saving tomato seeds sounds too complicated. (I'm not just an easy gardener, but a lazy one too! ha ha!) I don't mind buying some seeds from a few of the sellers I patronize (Pinetree Seeds, Baker Creek, and others).
I always save seeds from marigolds, petunias, nasturtiums...
