I'm already daydreaming farm names and critters. Closing in early June means we get access right as the heat of summer starts.
Bedlam's Barnyard
Margali's Farm Follies
🥳🥳 We have an accepted offer!🥳🥳
5.21 acres fully fenced with 4bed 3ba house. It also has ready to go barn and storage sheds along with 2 car garage. Here's hoping inspection doesn't find any major issues🤞🤞
It has nice terraced area on north side of house and level area on east for gardens...
:( My bank said they couldn't finance it because of the floodplain. Apparently 2.2 acres aren't enough room for a house... They would only fiance front parcel not the bank. Told seller and they took a cash offer. Sigh...
On to the next prospect...
That is crazy. Sorry your grandfather had to deal with that.
I didn't even think of that because about a block over, another creek runs through a park. It has nice smooth banks, bathrooms, picnic tables, and is stocked with fish. I think we caught and released about 50 fish in 2 hours.
Thanks everyone! I've reviewed the Texas floodway regulations. Any fill, serious grading, or bridges would require TX DNR and maybe Army Corp of Engineer approval. Low water crossing and dams to up to 200acre-ft are specifically listed as permit not required. Impervious fences require approval...
There are 3 legal parcels: 2.2 acres inside city, 5.1acres in county and 0.1acres in county. So I know I can put a house on front parcel city parcel and one on back county parcel before any rezoning/ replatting. The bottoms land is already fenced with barbed wire per survey. The creek in flood...
Both front and back parcels will have access to city water and sewer. The end of the street in right top of picture is in city limits.
I getcha on neighbors. There would be a nice 6ft tall privacy fence between the rental house and our fun. A 4bed 2ba house can rent for ~$1600/mo here and my...
So I have a tiny, miniscule, vanishingly small pot of money to use as downpayment to buy land. I also have to stay close to my day jobs.
I found a random plot of land- 7.46acres on straddling the city limits for $175k. 2.16acres is inside city limits and has utilities available. Yawn, boring...
Sigh... 4 acres without house doesn't qualify for FHA loan. The credit union wants 40% down and the ag loan bank says 10acres minimum.
:( Bummed and feeling like a homestead Godilocks.
Not doing much this year with all the move crazyness. My blueberry is doing well and has a full crop rippening. I plan on buying stawberry tower and planting it out. Also some peppers in the pot that had the orange tree.
In other news, we may be buying land soon. We've been looking at...
Hi everyone! I hit 90 days with my new job and realized I should drop by.
We are in the RV at a nice park about 15minutes from my FIL house. Oldest is doing okay in school. All three love playing with their cousins and granparents constantly. I have a new job supporting 2 plants- 15min away and...
I am setting up a portable greywater systems soon near Dallas-Fort Worth, zone 8a. The requirements to be legal are pretty simple. I also found plenty of recommendations on soaps.
What I need advice on is the plants to put in my sub-irrigated planters. No root crops allowed. They need to be...
If I don't have a new position or close to it by October 15th, we will move out. Will be in our (to be purchased) RV at FIL near DFW. Currently helping him get power and water run to his office shed and new RV spots. We will be a tiny house village- shed, RV, utility trailer. LOL
Gardening update- we got a few gypsy bell peppers off my plant. Tasty as a snack but very small. The first watermelon I picked to early but it tasted great. I have two more ripening in the vine jungle.
Hurricane Laura blew down the wobbliest section of fence but no other damage to rent house...
Hoping we can get to DFW where all of husband's family is located or stay in Houston. Tired of having no family nearby. Issue is DFW is mainly food, beverage, and electronics manufacturing. My last 8yrs has been petrochemical although previous 4 were at corn biorefiner.
Well I've been awol for awhile. The cucumbers keep coming and 2 vines have died off so now getting reasonable amount. We got half a dozen Anna apples from my tree. The flesh was VERY firm so ended up making cobbler out of them. Got a handful or two of blueberries. One watermelon is almost ready...
Here you go. It had quite the bite after marinating for about an hour. It was kinda too spicy for me. The kids actually started crying, oops. 2nd salad I made was just Italian dressing and they liked that.
