Exhausted. Soccer game this morning, planted my very wilted blueberries plus a $6 start of Misty southern highbush, sowed the wildflower seeds, hung the bee house, and bird feeder. Some tiny leaves on the strawberries and cucumbers sprouting. Shower and nap time.
My OCD spread sheet ran 4 pages comparing school district, cost, HOA, lease term, ordiances, ad nauseum when comparing between the 5 potential towns to live in. Missed one word (that didn't apply at the time) on 50+ page document. Sigh
The ordinances is written that wherever the rabbit is housed must be more than 100ft from another residence that I don't have access to. Inside / outside is not mentioned, just the distance. Like I grumped, poorly written and treats singleton pet same as 500 head commercial operation.
Nope. Just moved in November and Alexander is starting to make friends. But I could have entire colony of cavy (guinea pigs) in the backyard. They make good pets.
The lease pet policy addenda states resident must comply with all applicable states and local ordinances, laws, and homeowners' association rules. Otherwise, there are penalties up to getting evicted.
I knew I wouldn't be able to do goats or chickens here which is fine. Annoyed I'm finding this...
So being the OCD person I am, I looked up Baytown's animal ordinances again when I got the wild hare *HA* to get rabbits again. Apparently you must own a huge lot to have rabbits.
[Offense. Under this chapter, it shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally or knowingly keep or maintain...
Not sure. We want to get some land somewhere with decent access to Baytown, ship channel, petrochem central. Since we got married 8yrs ago we've lived in 3 states with 11 moves.
After googling what the crown is, I think they will be okay. That section of the plant was firm and I managed to plant them about the right depth. They are 10 pack of eversweet and a 10 pack of sequoia from Tractor Supply for $10 total so won't be too heartbroken as long as a few come up.
Well, I will be taking it easy at work for sure. I'm not going to be allowed out of the office building. Walking cast is not compatible with going into the plant. :(
I still want to get my garden trellis up and chicken wire around base of the storage shed. Feral cat and other things are using it...
I am planning on getting a cattle panel to make a trellis wall for the garden bed. The bed is 5'x2' and the panel is 8' long. There is about 1.5' between the end of the garden bed and the shed. I'm thinking that I shouldn't wrap the trellis on that end cause the gap will be too small. I don't...
So its a good thing I started 10 each of the peppers. I was foolish and moved them closer to the window before I left for the weekend. They sun burned / dried out. I am down to 4 of each. All the watermelons are doing good though.
Our spring break trip had a great start with a birthday party at...
It's been envisioned in a couple of ways- Enveloping a sun is called a dyson's sphere and mega tech.
The version I find the neatest and almost achievable with today's tech! is a troy. This is from John Ringo's Troy Rising series. Use large space mirror to melt metallic asteroid to impurities...
Yes, my fruit trees are in 22 gallon containers for two reasons: I'm renting the house and the backyard is full of utility easements. I can and will move the trees up to 275 - 330 gallon IBC containers later if needed. They will join my bird of paradise in my plant collection when we move.
And in non-gardening news, I've taken leave of my senses and volunteered to be my 6 year old son's soccer coach. I haven't played soccer since elementary school, or coached before, or know the rules. But at least I volunteered so they get to play, right?
