Im thinking of attending a seminar in Missoula regarding Essiac Tea in October. part of the day I think will be dedicated to learning to grow it. I'll report back if I indeed do go. The only thing to hold me up is driving through the Bitteroot pass... its gotta be clear.
Jethro Klauss's book "Back To Eden" is an interesting starting place. Thats where I started many years ago. Its easy to find used on Amazon.
From there the sky is the limit. There are so many good herbal books these days from simple primers to very advanced treatments for serious diseases.
Yes, some plants require a bit of knowledge to work with..
but some are simple and easy to use, like comfrey.
A couple of weeks ago a woman came to me because she heard that I grew comfrey. She had severely injured her hand in a fall. There were sutures on her palm and all her fingers...
oh no. I just planted some by our pond a few days ago. Now Im going out to dig it up.
Do you think it will survive zone three winters in a large pot outside?
yes, I would try a different variety. I have had the same problem with one packet of seed and not the other.
Did you know that cilantro, when used correctly can detox heavy metals like mercury and lead and others?
hoodat, do you think that this plant can grow indoors for at least part of the winter? Im zone 3 but I will have a sun room attached to the house when the house is done that probably will not go below 50 or 60 degrees. What do you think?
and if you think it could make it what type of pot should...
Actually the claims are not ALL outrageous.
What is outrageous are all the side effects the drugs bring people and yet they still stick them down their throats.

About every two years I do an essiac cleanse for about 3 weeks as a prevenative/curative... for cancer is around long before you are aware of it. I was discussing essiac on another forum with an herbalist and she says she has seen it cure several cases of cancer. Along with the hoxey formula...
I came across this today and thought I'd post it. Essiac does work for some cancer cases and other diseases. This video tells you how to grow and harvest one of the ingredients called Sheep Sorrel.

We have one garden bed that we plow every spring. What about laying the grass clippings out on the bed in the spring and plowing it in?
We grow corn there as well as radishes, and beets.
I have two asparagus beds. One is Martha Washington that got no higher than 3 inches this year.
The second is New Jersey Giant, second year roots that I planted this spring. Ive had many skinny shoots coming up in this bed that get pretty tall, 2 to 3 feet but none of the shoots are like you...
OK, Ill look for Bacillus thuringiensis or dispeldust at Lowes for next year.
thanks everyone.
I'll look into spinosad but off hand it doesnt look attractive to me as an option after reading on it on wiki. Damaging the bees is enough but interfering with GABA? no thanks.
I've not heard of BT before and dont recall it at homedepot. Do nurseries generally carry it? ir do I have to purchase on line?
