I would not add the topsoil unless you really like your topsoil for planting in. As time goes by as your beds decompose they may tend to take the nature of the soil you add to them due to the microorganisms the soil has. I learned this the hard way while gardening in texas with their foul hard...
I just ordered my worms yesterday and they should be arriving tomorrow. I am preparing their boxes right now and I am about to put 4 wood posts in the bottom two bins to lift one out of the other. I have 3, 18 gallon rubbermades. How high should each bin be lifted out of the other? I am...
If you give your chickens sunflower heads that have gone to seed will they peck them apart and eat the seeds?
I am just wondering what I can grow to feed them.
In regard to eating nettles and using them in recipes, how do you handle them? Do you wear gloves?
I assume the stinging part breaks down when you cook them.
My friend from Poland says that they use nettles for all kinds of ailments and it cures what ails ya.
Does anyone have that recipe for...

Does it look like a good value
What's the downside if any to one this big?
Burdock is an interesting herb. Its actually a root and I have a large volunteer in my back yard. I plan on taking a piece of its root with me when I finally move north and plant my garden. It has a lot of healing qualities and can be used in tea or the root is even eaten as a vegetable. The...
We have a fair amount of shade and I filled it up with variated bishops weed. I purchased one flat and from there it spreads and you can dig up roots and transplant. Its perennial. Its really pretty and puts out a flower that is similar to queen ann's lace. Mid summer I mow it down as it gets...
I have bindweed in my ornamental garden.
The problem with bindweed is that the seeds can last for 50 years or more. The roots go everywhere and the chemicals used up top often never get to all the root segments. Round up will set it back, only to rise its ugly head another day.
In my search to...
OK, thanks. I will be up there in a few weeks and I will turn it and add chicken poo and more water. I plan on having my beds constructed by the end of September, at which time, cooked or not, its getting layered in with soil as we didn't place the piles in a good spot and they got to get moved...
There have been some very old laws on state law books regulating the transport of currents over state lines. I don't understand why.
Did you know that preliminary tests show currents to be effective in the treatment of MRSA? - a study done in Scotland a few years back. They have more...
