we had a little korean lady living in our nieghborhood who had a fig tree and would soak them in some korean distilled spirit (kind of like brandy). oh, man... bet you can't eat jst one?
i spent time with Hamonium Mundi (the dalai lama for those of you who have not been properly introduced), and his concept of time goes like this: The Sautrantika school, also known as the "Holders of Discourse," affirms that all phenomena and events exist only in the present moment.
if this is...
"river teeth" - old growth trees that collapse and fall into streams. over time, they rot and break down until all that's left are these gnarled, knotted burls with points jutting up... the teeth of the river. granddads' stories are like those teeth. they need to be retold before they get washed...
such a lovely story. you remind me of a time when our son was quite young and had some friends over. they were upstairs sneaking around, as young kids are wont to do and they came across a box. and all of a sudden they got real quiet. y'know that sound? my darling wife and i were sitting reading...
it's my son's birthday today. now that's a reason to smile! even if he does live a whole country away..

he sent me a picture of him skiing down the side of a mountain in the sierra nevada mountains on cross country skis! and it makes me smile each time i look at it.

Bay, you are a networking guru. i am absolutely sure if i had done that my darling wife would be feeding them breakfast and offering to do their laundry! some folks just have a gift. ;)
wow, this is a great thread. i, too, am fairly new to composting so most everything is a learning curve for me.
a friend gave me this book: "Teaming With Microbes" by Jeff Lowenfels.
there is a section of 'compost tea brewers'. has anybody had any experience with this? i like the idea but it...
i laughed out loud when i read your note. not because of your note, but because you reminded me of an event of my youth. my father bought some very expensive rose bushes for our house when i was quite young. he had a friend who worked at the local horse race stables and they snuck some of the...
