Well both parents are kind of but off by their different appearance and way of communication (they do a lot of head-bobbing and tail wagging). That and my dad used to be an avid duck hunter, so he's developed a very specific idea of what a "real" duck should look like and what ducks look best...
Daylight savings time messes with me, it throws my whole bodily system off-balance. I've managed to keep my acne down for months and woke up this morning with my face looking like a greasy, over-cooked pizza. My energy levels are dooownn. I still managed to get up this morning to carry water...
Saxony Ducks are another breed that we raise (super-rare breed from Germany - the breeder started breeding them before WWII but had to drop his project and pick it back up again after the war). They are extremely friendly which means that they don't lend themselves well to set-ups were predators...
I'd recommend Muscovies, they're my favorite duck breed (unfortunately family didn't like breeds attributes so we stopped breeding). Much quitter (most of the time), and the meat is better in my opinion, they also bathe much less than normal ducks do - so their waters stay cleaner for longer...
Easy to keep, we've continually raised birds that win grand champion at the county fair with very little effort. Lay big & tasty eggs and taste good themselves. You will have to touch up their water-bowls often as they like to bath in it, and spill a lot. We don't worry about having crystal...
Was busy adding a poll (I was interested to see what everybody's weather would look like in a graph) but accidentally submitted the thread before finishing. So...ignore I guess? Or go ahead and vote anyway.
Alternative title - "All that glitters is not gold."
I figured that since there were already winter pics being posted, that I might as well post mine.
Potbelly pig, right side last pic.
Well, you get the idea. Just about everything has been covered in a thick layer of ice for the last...
Forgot to mention that my parents don't really appreciate seeds in the freezer. :\
Even if I could, they'd probably get lost in the mountain of duck and chicken carcasses (chest freezer).
I keep getting this horrible feeling that I'm wasting something each time I throw an apple or pear core away. Can the seeds be stored dry or do they absolutely need to be kept moist? I'm aware that they'll need a cold period to germinate and that they won't be true-to-type.
Dark place, temperature changes slightly but would probably be better on the cool side. I put everything in glass when I can, the dark brown glass like what's used in beer bottles is probably better. I would by one of those huge mason jars to stuff all of your seed packets in, and maybe even...
Situation made worse by the fact that I've been doing all of my schooling online for the past six or so years, @Smart Red. The good (?) news is that my other senses should improve gradually. I hope that it's not my hearing, that's always been too good.
Thanks! Now that you say that I can see...
@Nyboy - got those escarole seeds today, thanks!! I did have trouble reading your card, after years of messing around with electronics my eyesight isn't what it used to be.
Colored types are the only ones that I grow, the reds ones have just become so uninteresting color-wise. It's pretty much everything in the nightshade family that my parents are allergic to (and probably me). Not a huge deal as I'm not a big tomato person (the texture and something in the flavor...
Start hand pollinating the varieties that work for you and you could have the perfect tomato in a few years!
I think that I have an Eastern European variety or two would work for you if you want (won't be growing many tomatoes considering most of family is allergenic to them, I'll only be...
This might be the harvest question ever (pun intended). Assuming that I'm allowed to choose more than one...
Both winter and summer squash, peas of any kind, beans of any kind, and okra, oh - and sunflower seeds. Yeah, I can't decide! :drool And so many delicious things that I can't grow or...
Just finished watching through it all; and I mostly, if not completely, agree with what he is saying in general. I like how he incorporates wood mulch into his setup. Thank you for posting that! :)
Now, to find that second video...
