    Container Gardening: Odds & Ends

Great info Dickie, thanks! Never thought to go quite as big as 1 plant per 5 gal bucket, but I may need to give it a go in the future. Probably helps to develop a great root system for the plant. I also have peppers and tomatoes going (among other things) and want to improve on the yield each...

    Container Gardening: Odds & Ends

Thanks for the insight on your great setup Mary. As I just mentioned to the previous response on the thread I'm a recent college grad and don't plan on living here at home for more than this growing season. I just wanted to try my hand at the hobby and have been thoroughly enjoying it. I do plan...

    Container Gardening: Odds & Ends

I'm not sure if I mentioned in this thread specifically, but I'm a recent college grad and don't plan to live in my current house much longer than this growing season. Hence the container method I'm using to grow vegetables and such.

Great stuff here, Mary! Thanks for the input. You definitely sound like a well-seasoned veteran I could definitely learn a few things from. I know containers are a pain in the rear, but I dont have the land to create the garden I wish I could. Suburban Michigan homes have their drawbacks which...

Wow I don't know how that might've snuck in there. There are some sunflower seeds in the bird feed we use. That would be exciting! Thanks fellow MI gardener, flowerbug!

    Container Gardening: Odds & Ends

Thanks for the reply! Yeah here in zone 5 -Michigan- or so we don't receive too brutal of summers. Maybe a handful of 90 degree days all summer. So as a young, experimental gardener I figured I would start like this on a smaller scale (20 or so total plants). I can usually keep a pretty good eye...

    Container Gardening: Odds & Ends

Morning all, I tried using the search tool to find thread titles in the last year referencing container gardening. Found some threads from 2013 and beyond so was just hoping to get some feedback from other gardeners on this sub-topic. Looking to open up discussion on soil recipes, additives and...

Thanks for the reply Nyboy. I created my own blend of peat moss, compost, coconut husk, a slow release fertilizer, and worm castings. Been looking up a few recipes to try in the future as well.

    Most Likely a Weed, but...

Good morning folks! Have been container growing various vegetables and the closest thing I was able to compare this to was a pepper (maybe). It was growing quite rapidly and figured I would plant it in my "rejects" potter. Thanks for any feedback!

Hello TheEasyGarden community! My name is Nick from the Metro Detroit area of Michigan. I'm a youngin' - in my early 20's and really just picked up the hobby of vegetable, container gardening. My mother has always had a green thumb and I figured I would give a go at it. Quite honestly I thought...
