    Sun burned seedlings?

If they are just seed leaves burned and they are not even 2 weeks old.... I personally would go ahead and keep them around if you have the space, but go ahead and re-plant. and wait till they are a few inches tall before taking them out for sunshine. The second bunch will catch up and bypass...

    Super cheap seeds!

I've done cheap seeds on low investment items like lettuice, flowers, etc that do not matter if they make it or not. But anything high investment, like tomato, beans, squashes, I spend the extra few bucks for seed I can trust. Our growing season is short and cool enough that getting a tomato...

HELP Commercial weed killer sprayed in raised bed area

What kind of weed killer... some break down really fast... killing weeds with stuff like round up before planting is pretty common to do for example.

    Fruit trees from Big Lots

I had my parents return two fuji apple trees to costco they bought for like 16 bucks, and instead, went with them to a local nursery to buy 2 short season apple trees for more than twice that cost. Where we live, even though costco sells fruit trees of all types, our season and micro environment...

    Starting seedlings with grow light...

At seedling stage I don't really think it matters, but if you want anything more than vegetative growth, like flowers or fruit, light cycle does matter. That said, I do a 14 hour light cycle... because it gets them ready for going outside, and saves electricity. Instead of adding probably 75...

Is it okay to plant apple trees now?

Not an apple tree expert, but sounds like they are coming out of dormacy. I planted apples last year in March while the trees were still dormant. It is my understanding that you want to plant before any growth on the leaves and ideally to plant in the fall if available. You want the tree to...

When do I start tomatoes indoors?

I am so bad this year... last year was a total bust on tomatoes back home, so decided to take an early early early approach... and am not paying for it through the electricty bill at school... I'll get pics tonight. Good thing I have hydroponics food that I can keep feeding these maters with as...

How to protect berries from birds?

I'm pretty sure there is a bird netting that can be thrown over plants so birds can't get to the goods, but I've never used it before. In the case of strawberries, slugs is what get's them all here.

anyone ever SUCCESSFULLY controlled star-nosed moles?

I've only been successful at killing one that I was lucky enough to spot actively digging, so took a shovel, dug it out and stomped it... so I am of no help...

weed that snaps and shoots out its seed when touched? (in Georgia)

Those look pretty similar to what we used to pick and pop! Only ours had pods going up the length of the stem... no idea what they were, just know we don't really have them anymore since we'd pick all the pods and pop them off the car and they'd just die on the gravel... kind of how I single...

    Starting Basil From Cuttings...

Inside? Or outside? I've never direct sown basil and the only predator inside are the birds who will suck up their wings, skinny up their bodies, run to the plants pick out a seedling and run or fly away knowing it's a no-no.

    Starting Basil From Cuttings...

I must not have patience. I find basil sprouting from seed much faster than basil from cuttings. Just put three seeds in a 3 ounce cup and wait a week. Little italian basil's just pop up usually 2/3 seeds.

    how many strawberries...

I knew someone with a pyramid once... let's just say that the top two tiers of three dried out every day in under a day in the damp PNW and the only strawberries came from ground level. They just put in the regular dirt from the ground, tiers probably need garden soil/potting mix that retains...

weed that snaps and shoots out its seed when touched? (in Georgia)

The wild pea-like plants in WA do that. When we were kids, we would take the almost ready to pop pods and line them up on the hood of grandpa's car in the sun. We'd take bets on which one would pop first. LOL

Jiffy pots & I dont' mean the little tabs either...

That is exactly what I do. I start things in 3 ounce plastic cups, then up them to 9 ounce cups, then up them to 18 ounce costco cups if they are not planted out from the smaller cups. I find that as long as I do not leave the plastic cups outside in the weather, I can wash and re-use them about...

Jiffy pots & I dont' mean the little tabs either...

Yes! Stories! As for the pots... I've never used them because they cost so much. I just buy plastic cups and fill them with potting mix to start seeds. A trip to costco for a 55 quart bag of dirt for 13 bucks, and 250 18 ounce cups for 10 bucks. I hear the jiffy pots don't degrade that well...

Using dirt from the garden for seed starting?

I generally suck it up and buy a new 55qt bag of potting mix for starting seeds in. Tried re-using last year's potting mix from buckets outside and brought in all kinds of bugs that hatched in the warmer apartment.... including mosquitoes! Ugh, and some how slugs made it up to the 2nd story...
