In July I was spending my extra time out side. I really only do the online thing in the winter. Congrats on the tiller. My husband is real handy like that. Most of the stuff we had junk that he fixed up and got working. Now we are able to buy nicer things but that was not always the case. We had...
Yeah I am loving the snow a little. We didn't get any last year and it is nice for a little while. It is snowing again today we are getting another inch or two. Our old wives tales is... "What ever day you had your first snow fall is the number of "Snow falls" you will get for the year". It...
I am hoping to get proficient at collecting seeds. A couple of plants I am not sure I will pursue this year ... ie carrots and cauliflower, the harder stuff.
I started onions today. 180 spanish onion seeds. Hoping to put them in a raised hoop bed in feb/mar. Will be letting anything that...
That is funny and now I am glad I have chickens.
The best part of chickens is they lay eggs. If you have twelve chickens and they all lay 1 egg each, you take the eggs and put them in a cooler with a light bulb in three weeks you will have 24 chickens. You can do this anytime and get more...
We lived in GA for 4 years and saw all kinds of snakes. I get a shiver just thinking about them. We had lots of lizards also. Never saw a salamander but that one is very nice.
Finially got some tracking info on my greenhouse. It left CA on the 21st in now in WV (right next door) but won't be delivered until next week. Mostly because the trucking company shuts down for the holiday week. The boys couldn't put it together in this weather anyway. The freezing rain has...
This thread is cracking me up. How many people do you think are now having to go out and do alllllllll of their Christmas shopping this weekend? I know my daughter stopped at Wally world and said it was packed.
When we lived in GA we had some nice GA Pines in the front yard and the squirrels to go with them. They used to eat the pine nuts out of the pine cones and if you were outside they would throw them at you. At first we thought it was accidental but we were outside plenty and sometimes with...
Hoodat it may not even be from your garden. My sister in law got a mini pumpkin in their garden 3 or 4 years ago and they had never planted pumpkins of any type. We had guessed that a bird dropped it or something. She always puts seed out for the squirrels usually peanuts but at times she has...
I wish I could put mine right outside on our patio but I don't have that luxury. My patio gets morning sun until about 2:00 at the latest. I have a nice sunny spot right out back where is will do pretty well. March to October is very good for a greenhouse. I am hoping for some winter...
Ok Marshall did get a little scary for a little while but he has some very good points.
Let look at what he is saying from another view.
What are they going to start messing with next? Will they start engineering people with traits they prefer? Will they engineer people to produce one child...
Nice job with greenhouse. How does it do being on the deck? I was wandering if the floor was colder not being on the ground. Do you have a problem with that or have you already fixed that issue.
:yuckyuck
I think the sailors (men) did give them names of fierce women they had known, the old girl in every port thing and that the tradition came from that. Since sailor aren't often on land no names for winter storms.
Just a theory.
My son has a step daughter the same age that is my gardening buddy but I don't see her often. She loves gardening. I think Eve and I will have a tea party picnic in there when it is comfortable and see if she will try some of the food I have growing and she will like it better.
