    So what's with the weather?

Does anyone know if this weather is supposed to hold? This is seeming a lot like last year and if it is I am putting up a greenhouse and pretend I live in the south. I still have parsely and thyme that is doing pretty well.

    Where is everybody?

I was working, like everyone who has a job. Everyone working more hours for less money just trying to get by. I am glad I have a job though. I am also glad you are here Hoodat. I remember when we hadn't heard from you and everyone was so worried. Christmas is just around the corner and I just...

How to Give Eggs for Christmas When the Hens Aren't Laying!

That's a very cute idea you are a great neighbor and friend. My hens are laying again. They started about 2 weeks ago so all is not lost. I have 1 molted hen(out of 8) that is laying and 4 of our pullets just started this week. They are speckled sussex and I love this breed. I have had comets...

Baymule, you said that if you cook them to long they get mushy. So does that mean they don't can well?

    Pop Bottle Greenhouse

There are several ways to put them together. One way is to cut off the tops and bottoms and stack them on garden stacks another way is to cut off the bottoms and stack them together in rows and use wire or some type of sting to hold them in walls. I thought it was interesting. It self waters...

    Pop Bottle Greenhouse

Has anyone ever tried this type of greenhouse? http://keetsa.com/blog/arts-and-entertainment/diy/pop-bottle-greenhouse-gardens/ I was very intrigued when I saw this. I guess they are all the rage in Europe but they are starting to catch on here in the states.

Do you have to dry bean seed?

I have what is probably a stupid question but here goes... do you have to dry bean seed to plant them? Here is the situation, I ordered some heirloom seed vaults from my patriot supply. A pack of green bean seed (blue lake bush) is not enough for me to plant for a garden in a year. But they...

    Fall Herbs planters

Oh good mine is like small trees and I really like using fresh herbs instead of dried and if I can use them in they're current state I will do that until we get close to a frost. I have genevese and lemon basil. I am going to harvest my oregano because that is better dried. So far our...

    Hooped house raised beds

That looks very nice. Do you have to close up the ends or does that provide enough protection? I saw that you have Timothy Green growing in your garden, does that happen every year because we already have 5 children and my husband won't be happy with that.

    Fall Herbs planters

Yeah I am not worried about them making it through the winter. I have three thyme plants and I only want to take one indoors to have thyme all winter. I know the marjaram won't make it anyway. I am just wanting to use fresh herbs without having to buy them. I am planning on trying to bring...
