Clare, The variety in the last photo is "Neon Splendor"......I have "Spartacus" too...and you're right...it does produce smaller tubers.....as does "Vassio Meggos" a Lavender sport from Spartacus. Vassio Meggos has a white sport called "Louis Meggos" and it too has the same genetic tuber...
I don't soak any of my bedding...(Pine shavings)...never have used Cedar. If the tubers are mature and clean..( no insects or injuries)...they should store well in a cool dry area close to 40-45 degrees.....without additional moisture. I would check them a few times and if any do look a bit...
I had some potted Dahlias this year on my deck.....I took the tubers out before the hard freeze and stored them with all of my other Dahlia tubers...close to a ton of tubers were dug this last week. I wouldn't take the chance of possible freezing...the weather doesn't look too good this...
Yum....I hope you find out the trouble....I want to use the recipe and make my own....thanks for sharing....I won't make any 'til you get some help from someone that knows. Do you use Sweet Bell Peppers?
Wow lesa....Mutant Ninja Carrots......Great job! I can't keep the deer and Groundhogs away from the carrots and kale when I plant.....Thank God they don't care too much for Dahlias..... Keep up the good work! Any photos?
Nice rabbits...I really miss having the little ones in the nest boxes. I use to breed and exhibit Rhinelander rabbits. I'm just concentrating on the Bantams and sheep for now. Great photos!!!
Hi Steve, I've used Parsnips with a mix of other Winter veggies roasted on a cookie sheet with a drizzle of olive oil......pretty tasty...I have also used them in hardy veg. soups. Fried in butter...they become very sweet....YUM!!! Parsnips that are pulled up and used after the first hard...
Thanks Steve and Smart Red, Of course I can't forget the sheep and their wonderful pasture....it reminds me of a Disney movie.....I spend lots of time day-dreaming here too.....
This is one of my "go to" rest places on the farm....I call it the "Trillion Trillium" place...I always visit here when I'm looking for Morel Mushrooms......a nice place to get lost in....
How wonderful these places all are......This is one of my favorite places to be and let my mind go blank...(which is very easy for me):P.....This is my view off the back deck of the house..... From the deck to the tree line on the horizon is 14 miles....
Thanks, I use to live in Brazil and recognize some of the hummingbirds and butterflies....they are the same or very similar to what I saw...It sures beats the very gloomy day we are having here. Thanks for sharing.
