Steve...I grow the Anise Hyssop as well.....use it all the time for tea.... I also grow Lemon Balm (2 varieties)....Choc. Mint, Peppermint, Spearmint, Kentucky Colonel Mint, Lebanese Mint, Apple Mint, Pineapple Mint, Orange Mint, and Ginger Mint....along with a few different varieties of Thyme...
Yep.....I clean them out but not too much, ......you don't want any holes and get water leaks. I place apiece of soaked oasis in and some extra water.....then I add some greens and Fall leaves, maybe a sprig of crab apples, pussy willows, wheat stocks, cat tails,,,,and then my flowers. Here...
I'm not sure of the variety name...this Calendula is one of the many colors I got as a mix of seeds from a lady in our Garden Club. The mix has all colors....cream, orange, yellow, almost white, bi-colors...etc. I plant seeds every year and almost always a few "surprises" pop up somewhere...
Great photo Steve...... I grow them as well, not as many this year. I use them in Potpourri (dried) and as a garnish and a little color in salads. I use them sometimes in smaller arrangements and as "filler" flowers along with Zinnias in bigger arrangements. Beautiful color on that bouquet.
Thanks Steve and Lesa......I've done arrangements in Citrus fruit as well.....no need to clean them out....just cut the tops off and stick flowers and greens in. The Citric acid helps preserve them....it works great for just a quick, small arrangement for the dinner table......just an idea to...
Let me know when you are ready to spin....I'll send you some free Blackface fleece for you to practise with. The Blackface wool is unique in that it has some fibers that will take up most of the dye and some will take a partial bit of the dye and some won't take it at all....that is why "Tweed"...
Yes....One day I took 13 arrangements...some in my Blue Jarahdale Pumpkins and sold them all.....not too bad for 3 1/2 hours there. I'm doing some for the indoor Market for Thanksgiving too....but my Dahlias are toast....I'm using mixed evergreens and Fall flowers that are still going strong...
I've received poultry supplies as well....Yes...that is a sheep. They are used for meat and their wool....(Tweed). The breed is "Scottish Blackface".....I've had the breed for about 17 years. Here is a photo of some of the sheep on Spring pasture. Enjoy!!!
