They are a type of edible Fungus.....usually about the size of a Soft Ball or smaller....this one weighed about 5 1/2 lbs..... you have to pick them when they are still white inside and not turning yellow...then they're too far gone.
Neat story....it sounds like they are getting ready for the "Chicken Olympics"......the only problem would be that no chicken would want to carry the Olympic Torch....(Fricasee)...not really welcomed....:/

I've been checking all of my Dahlia tubers in the basement.....I know they want to be planted.....I don't have the heart to tell them they have 3 1/2 more months to go before the ground is warm enough....then I start planting like crazy!!!:P
