    Hi lesa,:) I've never used saw dust....I do use Pine shavings...the ones used for livestock bedding. As long as the saw dust is dry and not from a Walnut tree....you should be fine. I wash the tubers off...freeing them from extra dirt and no bugs/worms are hiding in the nooks and...

Each tuber or clump of tubers is labeled....and they all go down into my root cellar where the temperature stays about 45 degrees...unless...

    Wow.....That's good that some came up from last year......I would have thought they would have all froze...... I would ONLY leave tubers in the ground that you can afford to lose if they DO freeze..... I never take the chance.... Post some photos if you have any..... I'm going to start...

    lesa......I wait 'til the first "HARD" frost when the plants turn a greasy black banana peal black.... and then wait for a couple of days and carefully dig up the tubers not to disturb or break them from their main stocks....then I hose them off...let them dry....and store them.

    We've had a pretty good frost....after the next "Hard" frost....I'm going to start digging Dahlia tubers.....what a job....I hope everyone else had a long enough season to enjoy their dahlias..... "Til next Spring! Rusty
