Hello,
I'm getting ready to send you my beans for the year.
The Madasgar Lima Beans grew and grew, put on a few pods, but only a few (like 2 or so) grew to maturity. May-be they don't like heat? There were quite a few full size beans with immature (not dry) pods on the plants when we got a...
Hello,
I'd like to try Madagascar, Fisole Rassacher Kipfleer & Greasy Grits. If you trust me after last year's problems (I can't remember which one was a failure), I can try #23. If not, that's okay, too.
Thanks!!
@Bluejay77,
Thank goodness! I sure thought it would be there Friday. Everyone is right about the delivery times being slower.
The Red Speckled Sugar #24 didn't sprout.
The Zambezi just didn't take off at all. It was slow going, then there were lots of little beans, then there weren't many...
@Bluejay77,
I sent it in a bubble envelope, but I didn't get a tracking number...
I have some more of the Wrens Egg & IM, and will resend next week after I get it from the farm.
May-be it will show up, but it has been pretty long for the USPS.
@Bluejay77, I am sending your seeds today.
Imbotyi Mbayiyana was the winner in disease resistance and production. We are eating the snaps from the seeds that sprouted in the pods before I could collect them.
Wrens Egg did well, and the seeds are beautiful.
Zambezi #2 didn't like something about...
I didn't realize I hadn't been here in so long, but here's my update.
The Wren's Egg have lots of pods and are doing well.
The Zambezi #2 have had blooms for a while, but i hadn't seen any beans until yesterday when I spotted some itty-bitty ones about 1" long.
The Imbotyi Mbayiyana beans are...
@flowerweaver
Actually, it was the Leakey Death Ride put on by the Fort Worth Bicycling Association. A three day event from Bandera to Leakey, a hundred mile loop out of Leakey (the best part, of course) and back to Bandera. I slowly got out of shape after my 16 yo dd was born. Sometimes I...
@flowerweaver We are just north of Dallas, living in Texas, and have a small farm just across the border in Oklahoma where we plan to retire to someday. I've just been lucky, knock on wood. You haven't been - wow! Your experiences must have really made you feel alive!!
One of my most...

It seems the rain has stopped for now. Soon it will be hot & humid. Yippee.
Funny, living in TX for over 50 years and the only tornado I ever saw was driving through eastern Colorado on vacation. It was miles and miles away and looked about a mile wide. Luckily, it was in the sparsely populated plains area, and we later found a newspaper article that said it...
Happy Monday!
The Imbotyi Mbayiyana and Zambezi #2 are coming along well, and I planted the Wren's Egg this weekend. I hated to put such pretty seeds into the ground.:)
I found some small beans on my KY Wonder plants, so I should be up to my neck in beans in a few weeks.
We've had...
I haven't found that they produce much fruit around here - may-be it is too dry in most years. This year, I dug and potted some and intend to plant them (after they get a bit bigger) in the yard where they will get more regular water. I hope this does the trick!
:p
@Bluejay77
Thanks - How about Wren's Egg? Or anything you suggest...
I think this time I will put a marker close to where I've planted a bean or two. That way, I can find it if it doesn't grow. When I poke around, I don't always find the seeds, probably because I'm not looking in the...
