@baymule, it does look like you've been earning your keep alright. those floors are awesome! ya done good girl. after the floors then what? and be sure to give your self a break ever so often
weird looking squirrel there @Lavender2. makes you wonder just why he's pretending to be a bunny. i have an agreement with the squirrels around here. if they'll stay out of my back yard and away from my bird feeders i'll let them gather and eat all the nuts they find on the other 59 acres...
forgot to mention the fact that my pond has been a little busy the last few days. I've had both an otter and a heron visiting. the otter kind of bothered me, not because it is eating my fish but do they like duck? I'm afraid he will eat baby duck when I'm not looking. the heron is just...
i use the bathroom size (4oz?) sized paper cups with no wax on them to start a lot of my seeds. poke a couple of holes in the bottom, fill them with starter soil, water from the bottom and when they are ready to set out i just pinch the bottom completely out and plant paper cup and all. has...
i rather like the spring sky. ya know she would look great hanging in my bedrood, just sayin'. and how is rudy doing in this cold weather? has he gotten use to his PJ's yet?
@ducks4you, do you put straw in the chicken house in the winter? i put straw in the floor and then sprinkle cracked corn in and on it all winter. they scratch and poo and scratch and poo and break things down till in the spring i have wonderful mulch/compost for my gardens.
guess so cane, the guy who owns the poultry farm had an electrical problem and lost one whole house of birds which numbers in the thousands and the air was thick with eagles and buzzards. made me think about todays society, why work for what you need when someone will hand it to you. like i...
@canesisters what an excellent explanation of horse size. having played with horses of all different sizes i can say yes, they all smell wonderful. kind of in the same category as baby powder and puppy breath.
because i have animals too i stay busy feeding and caring for them. the sheep are heavy bred now and i'll be looking for lambs soon, the goats will start kidding around the first of march, the chickens just got a new roof on their house. there is always something to keep me off the streets and...
we have several bald eagles winter here in the river valley. i love to watch them fish. one of the saddest thing I've seen was a flock of about 20 eagles feeding on the dead chickens from a poultry farm over in Oklahoma. now i know that they are scavengers and will eat about anything to make...
isn't it amazing how much "stuff" people pile up and aren't you so glad those guys hauled part of it off. like nyboy says good number to keep. have a restful new year
