@Smiles Jr. I have no idea what he puts in it. My job is to stir and make sure it doesn't boil. :) Apparently I'm good at that. We have learned letting it sit to long makes it over carbonated and gross. He (really my 9 year old) makes ginger ale too. It has a tendency to go bad if you don't...
Real rootbeer. Made with sassafras, wintergreen and other random stuff. He carbonates it with yeast lets it sit until carbonated about 3 days. Then throws it into the fridge to drink when cold. The alcohol content is so low that the kids can drink it.
He uses swing top bottles instead of beer...
So, the husband has been making rootbeer for several years. Just enough for us. This last batch he tried something different so, we gave part of it away to friends for criticism. Now they are wanting to buy it. The problem is in order for him to break even he's going to have to charge $2 for a...
@PhilaGardener it's not capped at the bottom. We sunk it into the dirt about a foot. Then filed it with dirt as we went to put the plants in. We don't have a timer on it. But, someone turns it on twice a day on a small trickle for at least 30 minutes. We are going to do 2 more in different...
They're getting plenty of water right now! It's actually raining here! I've been moving them around the yard based on where the sun is.They look a lot better and don't seem to be dying anymore.
I won't transplant them. I dint think they'd grow in our dirt since its mostly sand. They will stay in the pots. I am hoping they will run up the columns of the back patio.
I started some Morning Glories inside in some large pots. They have sprouted(they have nice sized leaves) and I've moved them outside(it's been in the 70s) they aren't doing well. But, when I bring them in they perk back up. Anybody have any idea what could be happening. Maybe it's user error....
I know some mushrooms have to have a small amount of light. I watched a documentary once where they had them under blue light. I don't know what color these were or the purpose if them. I don't know enough about growing them to make an educated guess.
My daughter now wants to really grow them. I...
Update on my daughter's mushrooms. After 14 days they have sprouted. We had all but given up. But, I didn't get around to throwing it away. When we got up this morning they were sprouted. They are still very small so, we'll give it a few more days and see what happens.
On another note Homedepot...
I'm in SW Texas. We get freezing temps a few times a year. Our winters are normally in the 40s and 50s. I will have to wrap them for sure at least a couple times a year. I was so excited about this method and the grow bags because they are portable. About the time we get a gardening space...
It's getting time to plant strawberries and I'm excited! But, last year's crop failed miserably. I'm still not sure why. So, this year I wanted to try vertical gardening specifically on PVC pipe with holes drilled every 8 inches around the pipe. Has anyone used this method before?
I also bought...
I moved them to the garage on top of our stand up deep freezer. It's about 75 degrees on top. Going to try that out and see what happens. If this doesn't work then I'll have to go to plan b. I'm not quite sure what that is yet.
Thanks everyone!
I've had them on the kitchen table. The kitchen is the warmest room in our house except for the bathroom. So, I'll try moving them into the bathroom (no one uses it) and see what happens.
