I was working in lots of mud when I started building. it really slowed me down. I made my poles from reject, ground contact rated 2"x6"s from our laminated pole plant at work. (They are really picky. Most of their rejects are better quality than you could get at Home Depot.)
I put cross arms on...
Replacing our 12'x32' deck with a 16'x32' deck. It's taking a lot longer than I planned.
The old one was really bad shape. Some of the posts rotted and sank. I used a chainsaw to cut through all the deck boards. I didn't listen to myself after repeatedly saying "Don't step on the cut boards". I...
It can be done in frozen ground, but I didn't say - it's a real pain.
An hour job punching holes with a skid steer powered auger in the summer can take 4 to 6 hours in bad conditions. :barnie
If you are talking about setting posts in concrete, you aren't pouring on (on top of) frozen ground. Hundreds of pole barns are built every winter in extremely cold weather with no problems. As long as the frozen crust isn't more than a foot deep, it will work fine. Just put some type of...
My other truck was the same model. Here is some pics where I used my "redneck engineering degree" to add some conveniences.
The first is an old 12 volt cooler that I took out all the cooling parts and installed a 25 watt light bulb to make a warmer for canned food.
Second is a catch-all shelf...
I delivered a load to a dealer in South Wayne on Wednesday. Is that close to you?
I didn't get any pics in my truck, but it is the standard interior that all of them have. Here are some pics from brochures. It is a twin size bed. The mattress isn't in place in the picture.
Thanks everyone. Some like it; some don't, but it stands out! :D
It has a bed, fridge, microwave, and lots of cabinets, but not a Lazy-boy.
There are a lot of women drivers out here now
I used to go out there. Not any more.
I actually drove 360,000 in the first 2 years. My wife was sick (better...
When I started working here 5 years ago, I got in a truck with 95,000 miles. Last weekend I parked it for the last time with 845,000 miles on it and started this week in a new one. It's a glider kit so it doesn't have any emission garbage on it to cause problems like the old one. They let you do...
I planted them a little later than normal (like everything else this year) and didn't know if they would get big enough to gather much nitrogen. The cool weather must have kicked them into high gear. It doesn't show very well in the pic, but there are several nodules on the roots. The plant is...
For my big projects I need to tear down a 12' X 32' deck and build a 16' x 32' deck, build my 8' x 16' greenhouse, clean out a 24' x 34' shed, and clean and organize my 16' x 48' shop.
Between sickness, other chores, and longer hours at work, I have only picked the right hand row. Four weeks ago, I picked it and worked up about a fourth of it before I had to go back to work. My wife finished working up the rest and canned them. We ended up with 53 quarts canned and a couple 1...
:thumbsup If it works, who cares what it looks like.
I pick using 5 1/2 gallon buckets. She puts 1 1/2 buckets per wash.
She sets it on Gentle cycle.
One other advantage to washing them right out of the garden; It cools them quickly and helps them stay fresh.
This is what my wife has been washing clothes with for a few years. We bought it to save water. She really likes it. We use the top loader for something else now. Look here.
When we started canning large amounts of beans, we looked for any time-savers we could find. Washing the beans was fairly time consuming, so my wife decided to try our older top load washing machine. She washes them right after picking, before we stem and break them. Many of the beans are ready...
