    2014 Seed List- I have a problem!

Big Beef has actually done pretty well for me as a juicing tomato, but it doesn't have the flavor that I enjoy. Lemon Boys have a very bright tomato flavor. They have an excellent, smooth texture to the flesh. I really like them.

    The Florida Weave for tomatoes

My Delicious are fine without an extra but Brandywines could use an extra stake because the foliage gets so big.

Thank you everyone! Canned items are only judged on proper canning method and appearance. Eggs are judged on proper packaging, shell thickness, white consistency, height and color of yolk. Vegetables and flowers are judged on appearance and quality. Here are the pictures you were after ;)

    The Florida Weave for tomatoes

Sorry all! I just started a new job and attended a wedding this weekend so I have been busy! The Florida Weave will be a staple in our garden from now on. It worked extremely well for my large juicing tomatoes. I would suggest for determinant varieties such as saucing tomatoes that get rather...

    County Fair 2014

I turned in all of my items for fair last night. I entered lots of canned goods, a couple knitted items, eggs, some flowers, herbs, and vegetables. Usually in the adult category for vegetables and herbs, all of the entries take up two 12 foot tables. By the time 7pm rolled around (last call for...

    Tomato Pictures 2014

Yeah, they fell right off the vine so I thought they were ripe....NOPE! Bit into a sour green tomato. They are sitting in the window ripening now. They are just totally different than anything I have ever grown or seen so it's been trial and error this summer.

    Tomato Pictures 2014

I've only gotten one ripe tomato so far. It was a little Juliet. My plants are totally loaded with fruit but they just aren't ripening. It's been a poor year for peppers, cucumbers, and peas unfortunately. Not super impressed with my garden either. I've stayed on top of the weeds for the most...

Blue, Black, Splash Orpingtons- oh my!

When is your estimated hatch date? I'm curious to see what happens!

Blue, Black, Splash Orpingtons- oh my!

Well they usually leave the nest for about 45 min a day to eat, drink, relieve themselves, and dust bathe. One day this broody hen was off her eggs for about 3 hours which I believe is the limit in warm temperatures.
