And came home the proud owner of 2 brand-spanking new Nigerian dwarf goats! DH & I walked up literally minutes after they'd been born. The breeder works with DH, and he made her an offer on the pair. We get them in 8 weeks!!!
I would guess it's probably molting. Supposedly, chickens only molt at certain times of year, but I've found that in seven years of chicken raising there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when they do it.
Bleh, this discussion is making me itchy! They have been awful here! I was hoping one bright spot of the bitterly cold winter, but clearly it didn't make a bit of difference to those nasty things. For some reason, they keep hanging out on our screens - no idea why, I've never seen that...
The skin on his legs looks pretty good. I did the soak & gave him some baby aspirin & made some amoxicillin sprinkles for his food (according to the internet, amoxil is an OK antibiotic for chickens! Who knew?) He's much perkier & has been moving around more & even crowed this morning! But...
My poor roo has been limping around for about a week with two swollen feet. There seems to be a large bump on both of his ankles, and now his toes are starting to swell too. I don't see any cuts that would indicate bumblefoot (and it seemed odd because both feet are swollen). Any ideas what...
I've been starting veggies from seed for years, and for some reason, everything I started has not grown an INCH in at least a month!! They are under lights, get plenty of water, and I even put a heat mat under them to try and coax them to grow a little more but...nothing! I'm kind of grateful...
We just bought a batch this week! I was only going to get 20, but they had a price break if you got 25, so we got 5 more. :) The lady at the register said that it was a good thing that they weren't so cute by the time you had to butcher them. :D
Had a friend and her daughters over on Monday, and the friend told me they found a tick on one of the girls that night. I reeeeeally don't like that they're starting this early. Seems like a bad sign...
Looks like my list, only just the tomatoes. I do love the Marconis, and the habaneros & aji were good, but took a LONG time to get going. I'm growing old Germans & red San Marzanos for the first time this year.
In case you're in the area & interested in hearing him speak. The whole day is free, too!

Sounds like we grew the same thing last year. Ours were called Aji Limon, and were yellow. They were super prolific. I think we got our seeds from Kitchen Garden Seeds.
