Well, we want to plant some vining plants around it so that it will provide more shade. Problem is, we need to figure something that will vine, but won't harm the chickens! We do have a LOT of honeysuckle on the back fence, and I was thinking of letting that grow on the sides. Good idea or bad idea?

Well, we are Looking at building a very simple enclosure. Basically it's a roof, some beams to hold the roof up, and the sides covered by lattice. We got the idea from the Storeys book about rabbits. I was thinking that maybe we could get some canvas or tarps and if the weather was going to get...

Hoody, they are 6 weeks right now, so I'm hoping there will be lots of time to get them used to being handled before breeding time comes. :) If I'm understanding her correctly she handles them regularly. She says she spoils them with cherries and apples and carrots...
I sure hope so Ridgerunner! We're going to order some dark cornish to get some bigger carcasses. Hopefully we will be able to get them April 1st. We're ordering them early February. :-)

They will be mostly Pekin I believe, or Pekin Khaki cross. A friend did give us 4 mallard cross eggs as well. The chickens will be mutts, unless some of the Buckeyes snuck some eggs in there without us knowing they're laying! Lol we only have Buckeye roos. Hatch day is around...

We have an "expert" in our group (she's not REALLY an expert, but the most experienced of the group... LOL) and SHE said that you TOTALLY can incubate them together and gave me instructions on how to do it!

So, my friend gave us a styrofoam still air incubator because she got a new one. :weee
So... I was talking on my barnyard group how I had the idea of putting duck eggs in the bator, and then 7 days later pop in some chicken eggs. I was told that you couldn't do that because the humidity had to...
Sorry guys! I've been super busy with the ducks and chickens, working in the garden, getting ready to go on vacation to visit my momma for Christmas, preparing for Monks 14th birthday (on the 31st), getting ready for Christmas... GAH!
I'll be off and on (but mostly off) until after the first...

It does do some strange things...
