I have no idea what kind of asparagus I planted, it's whatever the fruit and veggie market had when I walked in. I'm guessing one of the usual suspects. Whatever is most common. :/
Do what digitS said. plants like squash, cucumbers, zucchini, watermelons, vining plants need warm weather day and night. Tomatoes, peppers, etc, the same, those it should drop lower than the 50s if you can help it (I can't hence my need for the "cold weather" toms that have smaller fruit than...
Good morning, Rusty. I checked out your dahlia thread a couple days ago. Blew me away! (Sorry about your losses, too) You've got way more gumption than I do. I can't imagine digging and replanting those every year. The few years I tried with a number I could count on both hands and feet pretty...
Our high was 56.6 today but awfully breezy. It's 51 now and still sunny! I sure am enjoying the freaky early warmth. Too bad it will probably bounce back by Easter. But positive thinking! :happy_flower
Weather is truly nuts. they're calling for 82 here Monday. Northern MI? Okay every April we sometimes get an odd 90 degree day, but that's mid April. This is mid March! The snow is almost off my small plot of garden and I may be able to dig it up this weekend assuming the ground keeps thawing...
MI had a hotter than usual summer last year, after the late cold and rain finally stopped. And where my garden is there was no easy way to get water to it so pretty much the cukes, zukes and pumpkins were a disaster. Pumpkins turned out the best. DOn't think DST helped one way or another though...
Actually, I'd be more worried that the far left wingnuts would pounce on it as gospel truth. Remember, it's NOT Global Warming anymore. It's now Climate Change, this way they can be right no matter what happens including the Little Ice Age.

In 5 minutes it jumped from 46 to 49 and the sun is full out and bright here! High today of 57, tomorrow 63, Thursday 70. Have you seen next week's forecast? It says 82 for Monday! These are the forecasts for Alpena. I think I may take my seeds and a flat of pots out to the deck today and plant...
HI, welcome. Where are you from? I live in northeastern Michigan's lower peninsula.
Getting lots of rain tonight, thinking there'll be a lot less snow on the ground tomorrow morning! :celebrate
:welcome
We had lakes like that last year in the driveway and on the trails. Lot of rain last spring with lots of snow still on the ground. I'll see if I can find a photo. I know I took more than one.
That's a lot of eggs! I don't have room for that many birds. I do have an old rabbit hutch that we converted to a temporary coop for summer only in case we raise extra chicks. Used it for meaties a couple of times, but this year I'm removing the ramps so I can access the whole enclosed yard...
Good morning Rusty!.
2000 dahlia tubers? :th A neighbor gave me about 30 a few years ago and I diligently planted them in spring and dug them up in the fall. Only 1 bloomed once. One whole flower. I said screw it after that. Not worth it. Are you really going to dig them up in the fall? Or do...
I made dinner. I got home a little after 5 from the doggy play date, and dinner was at 7:30.
Would be nice if someone cooked it for me. Oh wait, that's what restaurants are for. Oh wait, those only work if DH agrees to go.
*sigh* :he
Lettuce inside, what a concept! I may have to try that.
Been out all day at my neighbor's. Their daughter brought their new puppy over so she and Ziggy could have a play date. They had a very good time.
The high here on the north side of the chicken coop was 62.4 and it's still 60.2. Finally...
I'm thinking you're further south than Alpena, yes? Ain't no place to plant lettuce up here yet! However, yesterday's temp did get to 45 briefly, the sun was already going down behind the trees so it didn't help the melting very much. But at 6:30 this morning it was 42, in fact it was 42 when I...
