We use 5 gallon FOOD GRADE buckets for our Kraut, we have the first batch shelved, and the next batch (37 pounds) is going to be ready in a couple days.
I have grown both through the years, but for the last 25 I have grown only heirlooms.
The wife and I enjoy the old time flavors/real tomato taste.

I agree with the Cherokee purple cracking...We planted Black Krim this year, I believe, even though I have Cherokee blood in me...that the black Krim is a better tasting tomato...late in the season though, here where it gets COOL this time of year, the Black Krim spilt too...

Sparkles, We live in Southern Minnesota...I can see 6 plants from my window here...I let them stay, even if they POP UP in the perennial beds, the flower beds...not so much in the food garden...but there is no shortage of Monarchs or Milkweed here...
