Has anyone seen any research on this? I searched and searched...and found a whole pile of opinion but no real scientific research to provide answers.

    Potatoes in tires

Me too.....what I have done is backfill the second tires with our 'soil' mix...basically bury the stems up to the top. I hope that is what I was supposed to do? :p I guess we will see the result in fall. For now the plants are doing great and not a Potato Beetle in sight!

    No-till pumpkins - our experiment

We are trying our first pumpkin path and decided to use a no-till method. we started seeds inside (they got a little leggy) then planted them in a strip using some weed mat. We have photos and a description of what we did here : http://www.almostafarmer.com/pumpkin-patch-no-till-experiment/...

Almost a farmer in Maine :)

Hi everyone I am in Maine and working to turn a run down property into a family farm. We are really just experimenting with growing our own food - we don't have green thumbs so its a steep learning curve. However we love to share what we learn :) Gaz www.almostafarmer.com
