Yeah, I'm used to it - like an ache that you just get used to after awhile. And Winter thus far has been less brutal than usual, so I count my blessings. Still not a big fan of cold weather though, and don't do any winter sports (unless shoveling counts). I wish I could just get fat & sleep...

They are grown both for food, and for preservation... their beauty, and watching the hummingbirds which are attracted to them, are just pleasant fringe benefits. :) Because my climate is not ideal for runner beans & I grow so many other beans, I seldom eat the snaps; but will enjoy a meal or two...

It sometimes flies with the spoon too. But since I'm holding the middle of the spoon & pointing the curve downward, most of the kernels bounce off my fingers & fall into the bowl. After the first row, successive rows 'unzip' easily by running the spoon down the row between the kernels.
