In the course of your ruminations, consider that your conscience may not forgive you if you pass on the opportunity. I believe that all gardeners are born with a conscience that sees life through a green filter. :)
Unfortunately, yes. The Dr thinks there is room for optimism, but diagnosis is still ongoing. Coffee is one of my few remaining joys, so I pleaded my case... they suggest I at least cut down. If I can still have my right-out-of-bed coffee but no others, I'm OK with that. I've been drinking...
I haven't been listening to much music lately, other than Christmas songs from the church choir (which I really enjoy). Started singing lately more than listening, mostly the songs from Moody Blues, Gordon Lightfoot, Bread, and a few songs of my own which take me back to better times.
But when...
Well last week (and again today) the Doc told me I should consider giving up alcohol & caffeine. Alcohol, no problem. But giving up coffee??? Still thinking about it. That's the only thing capable of transforming me into a morning person. Without it...
That experience & conclusions mirrors what happened in my rural garden. Been gardening there since 2005, and never had trouble with germination - until I started turning under large amounts of organic matter, in an effort to restore fertility. The fertility restoration was successful; but...
I drove out to check on my garlic a few days ago, to see if any had emerged in our warm December, or if wind had blown off any of the hay mulch. It was a 'no' on both counts, everything still looks good. Then picked a few dry Martynia pods from the volunteer plant (which I'll post about in their...
I've found it easier to shell corn off the cob using a spoon. That especially makes breaking off the first kernels a lot easier. Provided the kernels are in rows, work downward in that row (or two) for the length of the ear. It's easy to remove adjacent rows after that, by prying them into the...
Wow... relaxing. I've been trying to get my heart rate down for days, and that works. Maybe that will help me to sleep better. Weird blip @ 22:00 though, like a record scratch.
P.S. A couple 3-hour relaxing videos appeared as links at the end.
Tomatoes with an exserted (protruding) stigma are more susceptible to crossing. I never examined "Federle" closely, but my assumption would be that it has a stigma that protrudes from the stamens. Some heirlooms, especially potato-leaf types & currant tomatoes, often have protruding stigmas...
Oh, the guy with the big smile is so me!!! I've always been a compulsive storm chaser; when the sirens go off, I run outside to get a better look. Yeah, I know, crazy (I seek shelter if I'm with family). DW & I once followed a strong thunderstorm across two counties, just to watch the...
Wow, look at that color! Pineapple is normally shipped semi-green, so to get one fully ripened on-plant, picked fresh (pausing for a deep sigh) what a privilege! :drool
Please tell me you are working in a pineapple/daylily cross, for all of us here. Oh, and for the good of humanity too.
That would be my question too. I've dropped several early, beautiful, unblemished, highly productive tomatoes because they were bland in flavor. No one needs buckets full of tomatoes that are as appetizing as soggy cardboard.
Keep in mind also that if a tomato is a cross, that might be because...
Thank you @baymule , @ducks4you , @heirloomgal , and a warm "welcome" to @akroberts ! :frow
And @ducks4you , nice poster... but shouldn't those be, you know, ducks running around on the bottom?
